Hey Steemit! Welcome to more Food Porn for today! Today’s feast includes delicious Korean food and dessert!
Let me start by saying that I absolutely love Korean food! Madtongsan was and still is the go-to restaurant for all delicious Korean foods in my opinion (in Brisbane, Australia at least).
Madtongsan has 3 different locations in Brisbane off the top of my head, but our closest one is located in Market Square, Sunnybank. Sunnybank is a Southside Brisbane suburb that is home to all Asian foods, restaurants and shopping.
Unlimited Side Dishes!!!
One of my favorite things about Korean restaurants is that they always give you multiple complimentary and unlimited side dishes to indulge in before, during and after your meals are served.
Side dishes include the quintessential kimchi, pasta salad and sweet, glazed potatoes. I can’t choose my favorite side dish as I love them all.
Left: Kimchi. Top: Glazed potatoes. Right: Pasta salad.
Time for our main meals!
I ordered one of my favorite dishes of all time from Madtongsan - the spicy beef stew. It is a very wholesome and soul-warming stew made up of tender beef, carrots, potato, and shiitake mushrooms in a spicy soup base. This goes together perfectly with a bowl of white rice and the side dishes.
Let’s just say the way to my heart is through my stomach, and a full and happy belly makes me a very happy person. 😂

My hubby, Ben, ordered the classic Korean Bibimbap served in a stone hot pot. A mixture of seasoned beef and various vegetables piled on a bed of rice and served in a very hot stone pot. The meal continues to cook as it’s served to your table, all you need to do is stir all the contents up to give your rice that delicious crispy texture while the stone pot is still really hot. After you’ve mixed your rice bowl up, simply dig in and enjoy!

Dessert time at Surabing
Surabing is a Korean dessert cafe that specializes in bingsu, which is a popular Korean shaved ice dessert with many sweet toppings such as fruit, condensed milk, ice cream and syrups. They also offer many different waffle and honey toast dessert options that I haven’t tried yet. I will definitely try these out next time and share these with you!
We have previously tried the mango, blueberry and original soybean powder and red bean options. Today, we shared a large green tea bingsu. The shaved ice was green tea flavored, topped with red bean paste, green tea ice cream, sliced almonds and a side of milk to pour on top to suit our tastes. I absolutely love green tea ice cream so I was very happy with our dessert choice.
Surabing has the best bingsu that I have tasted so far. Their shaved ice is always very soft and fluffy. Their flavours are always spot on and perfectly satisfy that sweet tooth craving. We will definitely be back in the future to try all that they have to offer.
