#FreedomFriday: "Freedom In Music, Freedom Songs" (week #2)

So, last week I missed the memo about #FreedomFriday being postponed to the clusterfork, and posted my article anyway. Oops! Rather than taking a week off, I figured I would just circle back around and take another approach on the topic.

I won't go back through and re-explain my understandings of the importance of music to the paradigm shift or how I've been involved in the activist music world myself, as it's all in the linked post above. Instead, I'm going to focus on a couple of components of freedom, sovereignty, and anarchy, and give you some songs for each :-)

Personal Responsibility

I've written multiple times about the key factor of freedom being responsibility. The more we are owning our actions and their results, the more we accept our part in everything we experience, the more freedom we have. The main thing that government does is getting people to outsource responsibility for their safety/education/health/etc. in exchange for giving up freedom... Here are some songs about responsibility, the Law of Attraction (what you put out is what you get back), and taking ownership of our lives.

Non-Violence

The only way for someone's freedom to be taken away is for someone else to use or threaten violence against them. That is the very nature of government & the imperial system that has been running things for at least 2 millennia. One of the biggest similarities between all the different wings of the freedom movement is this dedication to ending aggression, violence, and coercion.

Speaking Truth to the World

The world that we live in right now is one where the most important battle happening is a battle for the minds of humanity. On one side are the institutions, systems, and small groups of people attempting to deceive & indoctrinate the masses, and on the other are the millions attempting to give people back the keys to their own minds and tear down the lies that have been built up around us.

Conclusion

I hope some of these songs brightened your day, taught you something new, or that they had some effect of any kind. I have collected thousands of songs from across every genre and many generations, and I have to say that what I choose to listen to plays such a massive role in my mood/energy at any given time, as well as my long-term mental state as I slowly overwrite decades of listening to violent/self-loathing/corporate crap music with all the most empowering and grassroots artists I can find :-)

As always, a big thank you to @EagleSpirit & @FreedomTribe for putting this on!
