Today's freewrite turned into a poem.

Everyday it's used as a writing implement;
By teachers to write their lessons for learning,
And kids to draw hopscotch boxes for playing,
Even cops to mark white outlines for investigating.
Everyday it scrapes against a surface;
On a hard pavement to render artists' masterpieces,
And smooth chalkboards to list the day's specials,
Even on walls, floors and ceilings to mark a handyman's lines.
But alas, the chalk nor its markings will not last.
Splashed with water, erased to nothingness
Its colors will fade, the markings disappear.
Chalk it up to fate, that's the life of the everyday chalk.

It's also Day 4 of my goal to write every day, for 100 days.
