Day-262-5-minute-freewrite-sunday-prompt-parachuted (my 8th #freewrite)

I have often wondered when supplies are parachuted into an area for whatever reason (flood, drought, something else) what happens to them. If there are many people around, who desperately need those supplies, does it cause fights and arguments over who gets what. What happens if the crate of box breaks open and the supplies are damaged. What happens if the supplies end up falling on someones belongings, or car. How would that feel, just sitting there minding your own business and then - Bang, your car is squashed by a great big crate full of rice. How would that insurance claim go?

I always hope that those in need of supplies to be parachuted in to them actually get them. Imagine supplies being dropped somewhere, due to flooding and road closures. People in the area had not eaten for weeks, and the crate of supplies drops into the floodwater and gets washed away. Imagine that, you are hungry, trapped and the food you have been so desperately waiting on just washes away in the very water that has you trapped.

What a depressing thought.

The other side to it is, thank goodness to those that organise parachuted supplies. I am sure that my last depressing thoughts rarely if ever actually happen. These much needed supplies are getting to those that need them. what an amazing thing to be involved in - literally keeping people alive.
