Hook Line and Sinker.
That's what they called her, had always called her. It was infuriating. Her name was Lynne Sinker, so naturally they would give her an absurd nickname.
At least she didn't get the moniker 'Stinker', like her friend, Shaun Stank. Stinker and Sinker. An unfortunate pair. But they had found each other, and had relied on each other as the worst of the insults flew towards them and impacted them in a giant explosion of painful obscenities.
They would have the last laugh though. In true "sportsmanship" and in conjunction with the wonderful nicknames that had been bestowed upon them, Lynne and Shaun, Sinker and Stinker, had devised a cunning plan.
Stinker would no longer be the only stinky one around these parts! Not if they had anything to do with it.
They had been gathering the items for days, weeks, months! A hundred milk bottles had expanded thrice their size with the gaseous blasphemy billowing inside them. The day was upon them and it was going to be glorious!
They set out that morning, giggles aplenty as they prepared the stage for their display. It was going to be a night to remember. Everyone in town would be there! As the mayor celebrated the 50th anniversary of the township's creation. Oh, yes. They were going to get an anniversary present most unexpected, and Sinker and Stinker could not wait.
Thank you for reading! :) This was my first ever attempt at doing the five-minute #freewrite challenge... it's taken me a while. This challenge, hosted by @mariannewest, was one of the first challenges I saw when I first joined Steemit a month and a half ago... and it's taken me this long to take a deep breath and finally give it a go! Mostly thanks to the encouragement of @felt.buzz!
I'm rather proud of this, I was half expecting to end up with a gibberish-filled piece with "hook" as every second word... but, whew! :D
It's Day 193 of the challenge today! The prompt is Hook, and you can find today's #freewrite challenge at the following link - https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-193-5-minute-freewrite-monday-prompt-hook
