“Nothing stupid, okay?” James asked, still covering his mouth. The guard nodded. “Where are you headed?” He uncovered the guard’s mouth so he could answer.
“Berq.” His eyes were red and soaking wet from having taken a bath in their own tears. He was both surprised and afraid for his life.
Tom and James knew then and there that they hit the jackpot. It was exactly what they wanted to hear, but they hid their excitement. Berq. The town where the king resides and their goal ends. “Next question. What do you do with this bright blue essence?”
“Oh, you mean Cryosatane? I don’t know. I just deliver it.”
“To who? Kirk?”
“Not directly, no. I leave it at the entrance to His palace and collect my money. That’s it.” He was visibly afraid of the duo, which James took advantage of – he punched the guard right in the face and bloodied his nose.
“Now, tell me really, what happens with this…” He paused a bit and tried his best to repeat the word the guard used. “Cryosatane?”
“I told you, I don’t know!” He sobbed.
“See, I don’t quite believe you. I am pretty sure you must’ve at least overheard something.” James pulled out his revolved, grabbed it by the barrel, tapped the guard’s left kneecap twice with the handle and raised his eyebrows at him. “Your choice.”
