My wife had a tough time believing that one, too. “How is it you’ve never carved a pumpkin.” ....good question. So this year we decided to end that streak and she actually made it a competition. Let’s see who’s is better.. game on!
(Oh real quick, I went in the App Store and got a photoshop thingamajiggy right quick. So the photo editing stuff that’s about to take place is a test drive also)
First step: She picked us up these fancy carving kit things. Then we went to a local pumpkin patch to get a couple pumpkins. Hey that pumpkin patch is actually a story all in itself. I had no clue! If you’ve never been to one, it’s an adventure. Not so many pumpkins but a ton of stuff like rides for the kids, carnival games, etc. Had I known this whole pumpkin carving extravaganza was going to acquire all these details, I wouldn’t have waited until the actual carving started to start taking pictures.
So we have the pumpkins, the tools, some newspaper for the mess we’re about to make and our stencils. I chose to make my own stencil. Then we cleaned them out real good and set the seeds aside so we could toast them later.
So we made our stencils, cut them out and placed them on the pumpkins so we could carve them.
Mine was a lot simpler than hers so I was done quite a bit sooner.
See, hers required quite a bit more patience and time.
But by the time we were both finished, hey turned out pretty good I thought. There’s the view before the placement of the candle. Below is the view after the placement of the candle.
Happy Halloween Everyone!
