This post was inspired by what I saw on a filling station this evening.
Apart from the beautiful blue skies did you notice anything unusual?
I understand that security is of utmost concern to most of us in Nigeria and many places in the world. It is human nature to want the safety of lives and properties. Over recent times I have been privileged to see some extreme measures people take to safeguard their property.
I wished I took pictures of some of the measures that I have come across but most of the time I was too busy laughing or surprised to take some pictures.
Now let us go back to the question above, I bet you must have noticed the two chains and padlock holding the fuel pumps ransom to the iron pillar. What if burglars decide to go home with the fuel pumps? I doubt that those chains and the rickety padlock could stop them. Or could it?
This time we would have to climb a roof. Get your ladder ready as we climb now :)
If a burglar could get to this roof without being caught or seen, and was able to pry the solar panels off, I think he deserves to be given this solar panel as a reward for his unrelenting efforts and bravery. But the owner is not taking such chance hence the trusty old padlock is in place to put a stop to that brave burglar :)
The last but certainly not the least is that of a satellite tv dish. I lost it when I saw it unfortunately, I was unable to take a picture of it as I was in transit when I saw it. This is how to install a satellite tv dish:
The guys are not leaving anything to chance as they put burglary-proof over it.
Imagine that this is covering a satellite TV dish.
I kept staring at it, from the bus until we drove past the house where it was, that I forgot to take a picture.
Ever come across someone shooting an ant with a gun? Don't you feel it is a waste of bullet? How can its death be confirmed? My grandmother's favorite quote is, "The killing of an ant with a gun is easy, but who will bring back its body?"This is just her way of advising caution on matters when people were advocating extreme measures.
I think the people I listed above should consider using a less security measure as that is a little bit on the extreme side. Have you seen any outrageous or funny security system in your area worth a second look? Do let me know in the comments below :)
