Can you and your teammate survive?
For fun, and as an interesting community interaction activity, I thought that I would run a “choose your own adventure” game. I thought this up because @doitvoluntarily has repeatedly commented about wanting to be on my “Zombie Apocalypse Team.” Hopefully, that opportunity/necessity never comes up, but while we wait, why not have some fun and practice, perhaps learning a few things in the process with this game?
GAMEPLAY
The basic idea will be to navigate your way through situations while staying safe and nourished. There will be possibilities for death, sickness, and other mishaps, so choosing wisely on each step of the way will be necessary. Whenever possible, I’ll be using real photos and situations, and providing realistic multiple choice options. Some of the scenarios will be more “luck-of-the-draw” random situations while others will require actual knowledge of certain things (or very lucky guesses) to pass that round.
Simply put, your team must guess correct answers often enough to outlast the other teams.
To begin, you’ll need to form a two person team consisting of yourself and another user. I’ll recommend perhaps choosing someone who is either really quick at researching things on a computer or a user who is familiar with survival information such as foraging skills or animal identification. Keeping both members of your team alive will be ideal, but only one living team member will be required to win the contest.
Now there are only so many “foraging experts” like @jenncapestany and @haphazard-hstead and only so many users with an excellent knowledge of various animals like @natator88 and @herpetologyguy, so choose wisely. If you want to play but do not have a teammate handy, just reply to this post expressing your interest in playing and your need for a teammate. Note: you don't have to know anything to play and to try to win the STEEM.
Besides the other ways to die, food will be a requirement. I’ll keep things simple and say that each team must successfully eat at least every other day. I’ll keep the gameplay slower than real life to give at least one opportunity for each “game day” to successfully eat. Also, it is worth noting that some rounds may be more time sensitive than others, and that if you have enough food for a few days, it may be better to pass on some rounds than to risk playing.
The length of this contest will depend upon user interest, the initial number of teams that sign up, and the success rate of the teams in choosing correct answers.
I’ll try to consistently post the next scenario each day around roughly the same time. Each team will have to reply with their answer prior to the next post in this series in order to still be valid.
The first answer given from a team will be the one registered.
I’m not sure exactly what the total grand prize will be for the winning team(s) yet, but I’ll be saving a portion of the payouts from these posts to award to the winner(s). If enough people are willing to play, I’ll start the winner’s pot at 200 STEEM, and split up the rewards from that amount (or more) depending on how many people survive.
If you are interested, please find a teammate and reply below with both of your usernames. If you can keep it clean, you can even choose a team name. The first survival situation will be posted tomorrow, so get ready! Please reply within the next 24 hours with your team to register for game-play! (Hopefully none of this was too confusing, but I can answer questions below if need be.)
