Hots 2.0 didn't change the gameplay, it made end game meta more fun and now you can unlock so many Skins, Mounts, Announcers, Emotes, Heroes and more. Players couldn't do that before because everything was behind paywalls.
Fun fact, Heroes of the Storm is like Steemit now with three different currencies. Gold stayed from vanilla and two new currencies are added, Gems and Shards. Gems will unlock you new heroes and can be purchased with real money, Shards can unlock cosmetic stuff and you will get shards after opening loot chests. Gold serves as a main currency that you can spend unlocking heroes, you get gold by playing and completing daily quests and by leveling up your account.
There is also a new map "Hanamura" and new Overwatch hero Genji in 2.0 package. Heroes of the Storm 2.0 is a game worth checking out if your are bored with your old mobas like Dota2 and League of Legends. If you join the game in the next few weeks you will get a whole bunch of free stuff to an already free to play game.
