I am quite unsure if anybody from Steemit will remember these games or have even heard of them before, but here is a short review for people looking for some old games that are definitely worth playing..
Tomba and Tomba 2 are both side-scrolling platformer games, and were mostly praised for their story. The developers Whoopee Camp only developed the two separate games before splitting up and joining other game development companies (ever heard of Deadly Premonition?).
Tomba is set on a group of islands. The islands are home to people who lived in peace for many years. The protagonist is an pink-haired boy named Tomba. One day, seven evil pigs appeared, and using their magical powers, they changed the surroundings into a strange landscape. This is where the story all begins..
Tomba is required to defeat the pigs, finish side quests to unlock special items, and ultimately save Tabby (his girlfriend) from the Last Evil Pig.
As far a a review goes, I spent countless hours playing both of these games as a child. I specifically remember having Tomba on a demo disk I will never know what happened to and Tomba 2 I begged my mom for. She even bought me the full guide to Tomba 2 which I would read just for fun in my spare time? These games changed my life. Storywise almost as good as Heavy Rain and Deadly Premonition I would say. Take your favorite game of all time, and that is this game for me. These games includes hour upon hours of trial and error in miniquests; this was one of the first games to include the dualshock feature in Playstation remote control. So when you finally beat a quest or minigame and that controller starts vibrating oh ho ho let me tell you that feeling is awesome...
*COUGH* TROLLEY GAME *COUGH*
The original Tomba game was good, don't get me wrong, but seriously the storyline for Tomba 2 hands down is the best of any game I've ever played in my life. The ending is more than satisfying, but at the same time leaves you wanting so much more. Sad because there will never be another Tomba game due to both of the not having enough sales to keep Whoopee Camp afloat...
Keep your heads up high though boys because both games you can download on the Playstation Network to download (I believe they are still at least).
To finish off this post I will warn you not to play the trolley game unless you have at least a week or more of time on your hands to rage quit with harder than you ever have before.
STEEM ON!
