Making Planters from Decking Planks (from start to finish)

IMG_8298.JPG

This is what I'll be making

IMG_8293.JPG

You can pick these decking planks up fairly cheaply (£2.50 per length). Work out what size you need and cut all pieces to length.
I made these 15 inches x 8 inches external measurements. I decided to use simple butt joints on these and not the normal mitre joints as its easier.
12 off x 15 inches
12 off x 6 inches (6 inches plus 2 inches of the front and back pieces)

Joint each set together with 2.5 inch screws.

Until you have the six sets.

Cut 4 joining pieces from scrap wood (i use old pieces of a palet )
Cut 4 feet from scrap.
Cut 2 base boards. (i used some old plastic fascia board)

Clamp the sections up and join with the joining pieces and 1.25 inch screws.
Drop the base boards in
Attach the feet.

Treat with multiple coats of which ever wood preserve colour you choose and then plant up.
