Working my Kitchen Garden: Growing "Raya Ko Saag"

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to plant a vegetable, "Raya Ko Saag". Though I grow a few varieties, this was one I had not tried earlier, and am satisfied that they are sprouting as this is my favorite vegetable!

A leafy vegetable which almost resembles the lettuce plant but with a different taste, this is a plant I have not come across anywhere except the lower hills of the Himalayas. It is common among our people and found in abundance here during the winter months. And everybody loves it, while they also have found a place in Himalayan folklore and songs!

Today morning I was watering them when I decided to take some pictures for your viewing.

All photos have been touched-up using GIMP, scaled in size and taken with my
mobile camera, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge

Almost ten days old, the saplings are healthy and should have enough leaves in a month

I had prepared the soil and mixed in some cow-dung, the only fertilizers I use

My only worry, notice how some of the leaves have been eaten by critters
