Last December 21, 2017, me and my colleagues had embarked a cause that will forever remain in our hearts --- Reaching the Hearts of Sitio Cabuan's Children.

According to a friend, Sitio Cabuan [Ka-Buwan] originated its name from "Buwan". It is a Visayan term for Moon. This remote mountain barangay situated at Naga City, Cebu is believed to be much closer to the Moon because of its elevated grounds.

These are the Elementary and High School students of Cabuan. At first glance, they seem to be one of those ordinary kids, but after reading this post, you'll be amazed how these little angels differ from the rest.

That day, I never thought I have to do a 7-8 kilometer hike just to get there. The only mode of transport is through a motorcycle, but because of the unfavorable weather earlier that day, we were forced to reach by foot.

We traveled 20 minutes by motorcycle, and nearly 2 hours by foot from the National Highway.

In Visayas, we have this expression _"Among balay naa pa's ika-pitong bungtod"_ (Our house is located at the seventh mountain). I never thought it was real! In fact, we've ventured more than seven mountains just to get there!

Along the way, we've cherished the nature's beaut, until we realized how far that place is. Our legs are already beaten, but we must still go on. There's just no room for backing out.

Until we saw a glimpse of Sitio Cabuan School's building!

All of our exhaustions after a long walk suddenly vanished after seeing those kids' wide smiles!

We had our Lunch prior to the giving of the bundles of Love <3

The children shared Jollibee's Spaghetti and Burger Steak instead of Chicken Joy for these children are already tired of eating chicken XD.

The fastfood that we normally take for granted really made those tiny stomachs happy and full.

Some of them haven't been to Jollibee yet. In fact, they call Spaghetti as "Puwa nga Pancit" (Red Pasta).

We then conducted our mini-games and giving of gifts.

The program concluded with sharing of our personal experiences to encourage those kids not to stop from dreaming since we found out that only one student from their community has ever gone to college.
When I asked about their ambitions, they were telling me different aspirations to become a Teacher, Nurse, Stewardess, Policeman, Engineer, Seaman, etc.

But there's this one kid who wants to be an Army who prefers to be deployed at Marawi.

You see, these kids have big dreams. Somehow, the state of living they are experiencing at the moment hinders them from pursuing those ambitions. In fact, most of them are already contented to finish high school or elementary.
Personally, I shared about the financial struggles I've experienced just to sustain my education. I shared how I see my younger self through them. That I was once a kid full of ambition, but has lesser privilege to go to college if not because of the kind-hearted people who believed in me to give some financial assistance.
I told them that everything is possible through hard work, determination, persistence, and faith. That poverty should not to be used as the main reason not to aim for bigger things. That poverty must be the driving force to succeed.
I concluded my speech with words that made me teary-eyed. These are not the exact words tho because I've talked to them in Visayan language:
"We are here to share the blessings that we have, but it turns out, you are the ones who gave us something more than any material things can satisfy. We are not asking you anything in return. All we ask is to pursue those ambitions. Please don't stop from reaching those dreams. When the time comes for you to be successful like us, we are asking you to do the same thing we are doing right now."

Right now, we are planning to go back to these kids next mid-year before the opening of classes. Initially, we are thinking of giving school supplies. Since we still have few months to prepare, I'm confident we will get enough amount to realize this Act of Kindness once again.

One post isn't enough to tell the stories of Sitio Cabuan, so you can expect me to post about the amazing people and stories which emotionally moved me on that one-day adventure.

To the people behind this successful event, these children are crying their hearts out of joy, thanking you all for the shared blessings. To the sponsors particularly the Penumbra batch of Minglanilla National Science High School, Jong, Ate Cherry, Dels, Kryza, Harry Diano, Lexmark staff, Emerzon & Garcia family, Auman family, Mantalaba family, Sir Jeffset Duque Lastimado, Cabuan School's mentors, Motorcycle drivers, and all those who shared their graces.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Steemit for being an indirect sponsor for this event. Using my earnings here to bless others is more that what I am happy to do.
All for God's Praises for making us the channel of His Love and Blessings!
