[Growth-Idea/Growth-Project] Introducing Steem and Steemit to Polish community - translation of all new Steemitblog articles

Building a software is extremely easy when you compare it to a process of building a community around a project.

Because we recognized a potential of Steem and Steemit, we decided to support its growth by promoting whole idea and service among Polish people. It was said community should focus on promoting Steem and Steemit in non-English speaking countries therefore we believe our project do exactly what is needed.

We believe Steemit is already a great product with sufficient set of features, so we would like to focus on informing people about the most important facts about Steem and Steemit.

At this stage, every Steem user can be considered as an early adopter. Those users want to learn more about the product and want to be informed often about news and changes. But not everyone is fluent in English. Even people who can read/write in English sometimes prefer to read important information about the network in mother language.

Mission

As a team which stands behind Steemit-Polska, we would like to be a source of easy to understand information, which could be easily consumed and quoted by other media in Poland.

Vision

As we speak, our team translates on daily basis every new entry from official @steemitblog and publish it on our @steemit-polska account.

We are helping in onboarding process of people's posts on #polish tag, we are also actively inviting those people into our polish channel: https://steemit.chat/channel/polish

In Poland very strong position has Polish clone of Reddit, called Wykop.pl - we actively educate people about Steemit also there.

Articles translated into Polish are much easier to consume by Polish people, and they are much easier to promote.

Goal

At the beginning, we would like to focus on translating articles from @steemitblog. At some point, we would like to also translate best materials about Steemit, created by other English-speaking users - but they would need to be A+ materials. We focus on quality.

In discussions with users we avoid talks about price of Steem token, because our goal is not to create an meaningless hype (what is typical for certain crypto-related projects), but to provide information about facts described in a professional way.

Costs

We estimate cost of whole translation process for $0.01/character.

By example, this translates to:

Process of translation consists of:

  • reading original article (few times)
  • careful translation process
  • technical review of steem, crypto and programming-specific phrases
  • review focused on language simplicity made by one more person
  • creating a short dictionary (added at the end of article) of more difficult terms used in article:

We believe at some point our account can be perceived (or already is by some people) as official Polish account of Steemit, and therefore we believe it is much better to not try to cover cost of translations from reward pool (we would like to decline all payouts in the future) and apply for funding from Steemit Inc.

Accounting

We can be paid on monthly basis, after providing detail description of costs from particular month or we can be paid in advance (and apply for more funds, when funding will end).

Metrics

It is always important to measure whether particular work produce expected results. We are going to measure:

  • received votes (also votes received from Polish community - we are working on preparing the list of all known Polish users on Steemit)
  • number of comments and discussions

Initial feedback from Polish community
