I'm really saddened the new hardfork wasn't passed. These changes are needed to make the platform a success and reverse the implosion we are headed towards.
EDIT: I am talking about the economic changes alone, nothing else. That's what I understood the new hardfork Dan proposed on the 4th/5th of November was for. I heard witnesses say they had reasons to oppose the new hardfork, on SteemFest, and in audio chat. This is what I saw as the blocking of these economic changes. If the problem is from the coders adding more that is untested and doesn't work, then that is a valid reason to block the whole hardfork. I am still sad that the hardfork did not pass, because the only changes I was conerned about were the economic changes. Thanks.
There appear to be some witnesses who blocked the adoption, allegedly in fear of how these changes could affect the system... or more specifically and honestly, how it would be directly affecting their pockets. Personal pockets are trumping the betterment of the Steemit economic platform.
As a witness, are you going to:
- get a reduction in payment that is not acceptable to you?
- be running Steem into the ground because it's more desirable to be an impediment to progress and get what you want, than fixing Steemit and take a pay cut?
Well, then if you don't want to heal the Steemit system, please stand aside, and let the rest of us fill in the spots. We don't accept you letting the whole system fall because you don't want to take a loss.

Realistically though, I don't have a chance to be a witness hehe. So this isn't a move on my part, ok?
But other people will easily move into the top 19 if others leave. I'm sure people will be trampling the door to get in on that spot.
So, please do leave if you don't want Steemit to change path towards success. If you want to reject these positive changes and let Steemit keep falling apart... please leave Steemit. Why are you here if it's not for Steemit, and it's about the money in the first place? Make it about the Steemit platform #1 first, and this means radically changing all the economic failures in the system. Do what's best for Steemit, not what's best for you "personally".

Where are you sitting in Steemit? Are you with Steemit? Or just in it for yourself for the most part?
If you want to make claims of your costs for the server, or other things, well, then show the proof. If you are part of a "council" in the community (witnesses), then show your "council" expenses. Make your costs transparent. Show us your bills, to prove what you are doing, and how much it costs, and we can see if you really need to do what you do, and if you need the money to support it.
I'm not against the witnesses. I am here to support Steemit, not witnesses and their desires for a certain pay.
I have been talking with many people, and we know the server costs for witness nodes will be covered under the new economic changes. If the server costs grow with more block processing requirements, then the witness pay can increase according to the costs. The new changes will allow anyone who is a top 19 witness to pay for their server costs.
