The current death toll stands at 41 dead, and 1300 people infected worldwide. The outbreak has been traced to a wildlife market in Wuhan selling exotic animal products. So far, two people have been infected here in the United States, with the latest victim having just returned from China before falling ill.
The Spanish Flu

All of this reminded me of the Spanish Flu (H1N1). When it finally petered out, the death toll stood at between 50-100 million souls. Death could occur in as little as 12 hours after onset, with couples sometimes dying overnight in the same bed. It got me to wondering that if this thing ever got out of hand, the government might not be able to treat and contain this fast-moving virus. According to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, there were places around the nation that were barely touched by the 1918 Spanish Flu. Could there be other safe havens today?
Are you prepared?

My prayers go out to those affected and we can only hope that this affliction will fizzle out before it has a chance to spread any further. I know many of you are self-sufficient and involved in homesteading and natural medicine. However what is your sense of the preparedness of others in your circle? If the "you know what" hits the fan, are you ready?
Thank You so Much!
