New York State Approves More Industrial Hemp Growers

New York State recently decided to go ahead and afford 6 private groups the freedom to research hemp as part of their hemp pilot program.

At the moment, hemp is prohibited in many areas and a number of states have turned to embrace legal hemp only for strict research purposes. It's expected that soon things might change and we might see it legalized, given that more people now seem to be considering the possibilities that hemp can provide, especially the jobs that could be provided if that market were to be embraced.

If industrial hemp gets legalized then we could start to see thousands of new products come to market and this really will help to add growth to the economy. At the moment there are hemp research projects in New Mexico, Hawaii, Colorado, Kentucky, and other areas.

It's estimated that industrial hemp is grown in more than 30 different countries around the world right now.

There is a high-demand already for hemp products within the US and this is why they import millions of dollars of the product every year in order to satisfy that demand. It's estimated that there are literally tens of thousands of different ways that hemp can be used, to create rope, clothes, lotion, shampoo, paper, fuel, food, and so much more.

New York State's Department of Agriculture and Markets is reportedly looking to increase their testing of THC levels to be sure that the hemp plants meet their rigid requirements.

For hemp grown in the state to be classified as industrial hemp, it has to have no more than 0.3 percent THC.
