Happiness takes many forms

Happiness is something that can only be found inside of each of us. It is an amazing phenomenon; although we can only find happiness within self, we are yet able to share that happiness with others in a way that may help them on their own journey towards contentment.

I decided to make a quick post this evening to share a bit of my happiness and contentment with you. My life is a wealth of treasures ~ and I truly believe this is because with gratitude comes abundance.

May these moments of joy that I have been able to experience in the past couple of weeks bring each of you an opportunity to smile and challenge each of you to find new treasures in every day!

Here is my favorite spot down on our creek. I love to sit on the rock you see in the center of the photo. Whether I sit quietly, my feet in the water rushing down to the pool, or I sing one of the chants I have learned along the way of the rainbow path. Even our puppy is taking a time to enjoy the moment ~ it is a powerful spot to be.

I get excited every year when the first hibiscus blooms. They are large and bright and give an air of celebration, of relaxation!

The hibiscus' little cousin, "Rose of Sharon", comes in a variety of colors in our yard. It brings beauty and butterflies and bees and hummingbirds all to say hello, which brings me immense happiness.

Peek a boo! This little echinacea is peeking out in such a way that I was pleasantly surprised when I found the blooms ~ and I go looking for buds and blooms nearly every day.

peekaboo2.jpg

Peek a boo TOO!! This brightly orange colored echinacea is literally hiding under some of my canna leaves. Since it's only a few feet from the echinacea pictured above it, I like to think they are playing hide and seek.

This might be the perfect moment for my squash arbor this year. Finding the Green Man with his own bloom and a nearly ripe squash hanging behind him ~ this was definitely a moment of satisfaction.

TRIUMPH YOGA

Above you see our wineberry/raspberry patch (as far as I am concerned either name works!). It is definitely a rewarding exercise to reach, stretch, bend, balance and more to make it to the ripe berries each day. I would consider it a cross between yoga and stepping around lasers. It's fun.

What makes it the most satisfying workout? My partner Rabbit and my daughter @cassidydawn have been working diligently to manicure the canes and take out old growth while making room for the new growth, because the berries happen on a cane in it's second year and then that cane dies. Their hard work has made it so that we are getting our best crop of berries yet this year, and more importantly I was able to get through all of the patch inside and out barefoot, in tiny shorts, and my epic Thin Lizzy t-shirt WITHOUT A SINGLE SCRATCH!!*

Work is picking beans in the noonday sun because you slept in too late to get there before the burning day star became inescapable in the jungles of the garden sprawl.

Success is measured in the taste of every bite after a job well done. The kids and I tried the pickled eggs today. They tasted amazing. And looked gorgeous. I am really grateful I decided to do a half gallon jar. I might get a second one before they are all gone!

Here I am in my happy place. I am sitting on my porch, in the shade, relaxing with a smoke and some fresh water. It's so wonderful to be able to enjoy the biggest sunflower in the yard so close I can watch the pollinators on it.

Bliss is found in the bright yellow sunflower, still shining brightly even in the shadows of dusk.

jimi.jpg

This painting was made for me by my German Goddess several years ago. Ines is from Berlin and she comes to see me as often as she can, which is usually twice a year. This year of course we have global travel issues, so rather than allow missing her to be unbearably sad, I find joy in her touch in my life. She is one of my favorite humans. I find joy every time I look at a piece of art made special for me, and especially this one. James Marshall Hendrix is the songwriter for my soul. I gained my love for Jimi's music from birth as I listened along with my dad. Music is the best sound to soothe a soul, in my experience. Besides, Jimi wrote my philosophy on life: "I'm the one that's got to die when it's time for me to die. So let me live my life the way I want to." ~ If Six was Nine

I hope you enjoyed sharing in a few happy moments with me. Life truly is what we make of it, I am living proof. One of these days I am going to live in a real faerie tale...

or maybe I already do.

Thanks for reading!
