According to science we have three brains – one in the head, one in the gut and one in the heart. And perfection in life means aligning all three of our brains so that they work in the most harmonious way for our benefit. And when we are at our best as a human, we will also naturally be the most helpful we can be in uplifting the rest of humanity. So getting ourselves together is in our best interests as well as those of the rest of the world. And we can do it easily if we have the desire.
We are all aware of the brain in the head, as it is the largest evidence of a brain and it has phenomenal powers which we see as a result of humanity’s progress today. We can reach into space for example, and return like seldom before in our history. In other words, the brain has brought us a long way to where we are today.
However, there is the second brain in the gut, and it is comprised of a microbiome of millions of bio flora, or organisms living in our digestive tract. These organisms all help us to digest our food. Yet they also call upon us to feed them certain fooodstuffs, resulting in those cravings that we sometimes get for sweets, carbohydrates or other such low nutrient foodstuffs. Our gut flora has become habituated to that kind of food and nudges us to get it, even when the intelligence knows better.
Also we have a certain intuition about things that makes us feel uneasy sometimes about something, and we say, “I can feel it in my gut.” It is an inner logic that comes from the brain in the gut, and it can serve us well when under the direction of the brain in the head.
However, recent scientific research in the past few decades has now discovered a set of a few thousand cells that are part of the heart and they happen to be neuron-like cells, similar to the ones in our brain in the head. It appears that there are actual brain-like cells in our heart. That is the latest research and visual observation under state of the art electronic equipment now available.
Now this set of neural cells in the heart are the seat of our intuition. If we can be still enough in the upper brain, then we can hear the intuition or still voice within that can direct the head brain and the gut brain. Thus if the other two brains are guided by the heart brain, so to speak, then we can be fully in synch and we can act in our best interests, as well as the interests of others.
All of this corroborates the insight that we are a whole unit as a body/mind entity, and need to treat the whole organism as such for optimum health. The emotions are the language of the body and the thoughts are the language of the mind. By achieving a degree of synchronization between all aspects of ourselves as an organism, we can find that place of centredness, where we are at our best.
It is by slowing down and listening to the heart and the brain as well as the body, to really get an impression of what is best for us. And when we are at our best, the primary symptoms of our state of enhanced atunement will be compassion for others. That is the primary characteristic of someone in harmony with life – compassion.
So you can measure how in harmony with life you are by the amount of compassion you have for others. Different cultures obviously display differing degrees of empathy and compassion for others, If you feel an urge to uplift those less educated or fortunate than you, then that is a sure sign that you are in a harmonious and atuned space within yourself.
Make a point of seeing the world from the point of view of the other, of someone else. Cultivate as much empathy as you can for the multitude of people taking strain on the planet right now. Do what you can to visualize them feeling uplifted, even in your mind’s eye, if not literally. And feel just how blessed you are compared to most others on the planet.
This feeling of gratitude is the ideal state that you want to cultivate in your mind, as a daily feature. It is a sign of a mature brain, or should I say brains, since we have three of them. Gratitude and compassion would prevent wars on the planet and feed everyone. There is enough food, it simply needs to be distributed fairly. So listen to your heart and your gut and they will tell you more about the bigger picture.
