Do you believe in magic? Would you enjoy a movie where magic is used in a heist? Sounds exciting right?
This movie “Now You See Me” is one of magic, crime and mystery. It is about four amazing magicians who came together to carry out what seems like the biggest heist, one not seen for a very long time.
It started when four street magicians, J. Daniel “Danny” Atlas (Played by Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Played by Woody Harrelson), Henley Reeves (Played by Isla Fisher), Jack Wilder (Played by Dave Franco) all received a special card (tarot) which led them to an apartment in New York City.
There, they found instructions in the form of a hologram from an unknown person. A year afterwards, they performed as the Four Horsemen on stage where they used several “magic” tricks to carry out a heist.
This brought the attention of an FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Played by Mark Ruffalo) as he struggles to capture them and bring them to justice.
They went ahead to perform other shows and performed their final show at 5 Pointz in New York City where they gave a farewell message you the crowd.
What I loved about the movie?
Unlike some other heist movie where the robbers loot for their own gain, these magicians used their heist to put smiles on people's faces. It was seen in their first show how they tricked their benefactor Arthur Tressler(Played by Michael Caine), using magic to withdraw millions from his private account into the account of some of the members of the audience whose insurance claims were denied by his company.
The Four Horsemen brought their A-game and made the show a long lasting one.
I was in awe when the mastermind behind the whole thing was finally revealed. I must say that I agree with what was said about “the closer you look, the less you see”, because I sure did not see that coming at all.
I mean who would have thought that the one person who was trying to bring them down was the mastermind behind it all. It's more crazy that though he seemed kinda righteous but part of the reason why he planned it all was for vengeance.
I am kinda losing you there right? Hahaha, I don't want to reveal it all for those that are yet to see this movie. So if you are yet to see this movie, please do. Trust me, it will keep you glued to your screen from start to finish.
I rate this movie 8.5 out of 10.
Thank you all for reading.
