QUESTION OF THE WEEK SEASON 10.3 - What habits or addictions, both good and bad, have you developed, and which you would like to get rid of?
It is about those days when I had taken admission to college.
I was about 17 years old. My height was very good and I was a smart boy.
It was only on the third day in college that I started liking a girl very much.
I spent a lot of time with her. One day she said to me, look all the boys smoke cigarettes, why don't you smoke, I like the boys who smoke cigarettes.
listening to her words, I bought a pack of cigarettes and started smoking cigarettes.
Slowly I got used to smoking cigarettes. After the end of college, I joined my medical profession, but my cigarette smoking habit does not stop.
Now my situation was that in my pocket, in my bag, at my house, in the dashboard of my car, in my office drawers, cigarette boxes were kept everywhere.
I had almost become a chain-smoker. There was a lot of trouble due to this habit, but if one gets addicted to any wrong thing, then that addiction is not easily left.
I too had become a victim of this addiction. Many of my seniors and friends told me many times that you smoke too much, try to reduce it a little or leave it completely.
I tried a lot every time. But my cigarette smoking habit never subsided. The habit of smoking cigarettes was also very harmful to my health. It was having a very bad effect on my work and on my health.
Many of my friends and colleagues were reluctant to come to me.
Suddenly one day a new Lady officer came to my office after transfer from some other place, she was a little less than me in age. That's why she herself used to come to me without calling me for any work.
One day she complained to me that I smoke too many cigarettes, it bothers her, please give up your habit of smoking cigarettes or do it outside the office.
This thing struck me in my heart, for a few days I got up from the office and went out and started smoking cigarettes in a secluded place.
Due to getting up, again and again, my cigarette smoking habit has decreased a bit.
Then one day I courageously put all the cigarette boxes in the dustbin and swore that now I will not smoke cigarettes in the future.
Initially, I had withdrawal syndrome from quitting cigarettes but I did not let my courage waver and never touched a cigarette again.
Now I never smoke cigarettes, due to this my health started recovering and my distance from my friends also reduced.
People say that they use tobacco for many reasons like stress relief, pleasure, or in social situations.
all the people smoke as 'self-medication' to ease feelings of stress. while much research has shown that smoking actually increases anxiety and tension. Nicotine creates an immediate relaxation, so people smoke in the belief it reduces stress and anxiety
Chemicals of tobacco smoking include nicotine, ethanol pyridine phenol, cresols, naphthalene, and formaldehyde. One of the first steps to quitting is to learn why you feel like using tobacco.
you can think about the reasons you want to quit.
