Hey there Hive, it seems every day I have a harder time jumping in here and being able to put out a post. Since I'm trying to keep away from screens and being too much online, it's a bit challenging to get things done.

On the other hand, I've been quite active in doing things in many different places. Maybe some of you are curious as to what's been going on with the forest shelter, and I'm sorry to say it's a bit on standby for the moment being since I've been drifting along to the places where Life leads me.

This time I present to you a composting bin done only with branches from the forest and recycled stuff scavenged from illegal dumpsters. The only thing that was paid for was the nails, so it was only roughly 5 USD for a pretty big bin.

First thing was the structure, which was made mainly of pine and willow branches which we cut from the river.

These were the tools used... very basic, no electricity. Metal cutting scissors, wire, saw, machete, grass cutters, hammer and nails.

I think that with this set of tools you can build just about anything you might need to live, though of course, it will always be very rustic. Still, you can cover your basic life needs without spending much money on expensive modern tools.

The first three layers of the compost were rotting branches from native forests, dry grass, and woodchips we found laying around in the streets. After that, we begin alternating between compost and woodchips.

Finally managed to get all the layers. Everyone agreed that it didn't smell so strong anymore, so it was great to be able to show some immediate results from the process to the kids.

I really like the rustic aspect that was achieved, and that the few things that were not obtained directly from Nature, were recycled.

That's pretty much the end result. There was a little extra tweaking afterwards but not too much.

I love doing things like this, buying as little as possible, enjoying time outside while foraging for the necessary materials. I think it's really healthy to do as much work outdoors as possible, absorbing sunlight and breathing fresh air. Hope you enjoyed this, thanks for reading!
