Tilling Garden, Acid Etching - Thursday

I am in the mode of perpetual soreness now that Spring is here. Yesterday I dodged the squalls that came blowing in from the northwest and got some tilling done. First I had to move stuff out of the way to make room. The irrigation lines and plastic all got shoved aside and I moved a bunch of rocks that I could see.

It was windy but I still managed to get the ashes spread out before I started tilling. This section has gotten little ash over the years so it needed it now. The rest of the garden has gotten much more ash spread but it also grows a lot more than this section.

Took 5 full length passes then 3 shorter for the end. I have normally grown summer squash in this area but am thinking I will try something else this year.

I rolled the tiller down the short ways to the north side of the main garden and got 7 passes done before I hit a fence post and needed to do more clean up before continuing.

Once I finished tilling for the day I had to go around and get the fencing put back up so the chickens and ducks aren't all over the freshly tilled soil. I want to keep my worms in the soil and not in their bellies. I have a good bit more work to do to finish the fence and to close off the bottom so the birds can't squeeze through.

Once @stryeyz got home from work and we had eaten we went up to the studio so she could color the acid etched copper light switch plate she did a couple days before.

This is how it finished up after sanding and painting. Still need to put a clear coat over it but that will be done this evening.

Today I am tilling more after spreading ashes, have to get more written on my story, keep prepping for Sunday and our prospecting adventure, I get my pinpoint metal detector, and try to finish the fencing on the main garden.

Tomorrow morning we are heading to Diamond lake north of us with the Scout pack to see the fish get released into the pen in the lake where they will get fed before being released later.
