When we are faced with situations where we must choose between two alternatives that seem mutually exclusive, the key is to find a balance, a synergy between them so that we can better satisfy our preferred alternative.
This week's QOTW is truly interesting in such a way that I don't think any of us will be able to respond lightly without getting into contradictions.
Reading the original post by @ecotrain where we find the guidelines and basis of the challenge, already the first question it raises is extremely catching;
What really is reality?
From my point of view I could say that reality is what we have in front of our eyes, what we are living in this moment and what we can modify with our decisions.
Technology, which is advancing by leaps and bounds, has imposed another definition of reality on us, which is virtual reality, a reality that is not so palpable. A reality in which technology intervenes.
Undoubtedly, and answering lightly the question of the week, I could say that spirituality and technology are very complex and dissimilar concepts that seem to be unable to unite, like water and oil.
However, if I stop to think more carefully I would tell you that both concepts can complement each other perfectly if we learn to manage a certain degree of balance. In other words, I could tell you that the problem is not the use but the abuse.
I believe that in order to answer the QOTW of the week, the first thing we must do is to recognize our essence, what kind of people we are, what nourishes us, what fills us with joy and makes us happy.
I consider myself a highly spiritual person whose source of energy is the outdoor life enjoying the sun and nature. My connection with the spiritual world is so great that I often get excited when observing beautiful landscapes or in situations where I have my daughters in my arms. Being in a natural environment brings out the best version of me.
Undoubtedly I enjoy everything that shows some flash of vitality, being water a great generator from which I get very good vibrations.
Sometimes we tend to think that a spiritual person should abstain from the use of technology, which is not correct. To exemplify this statement I can tell you that I usually enjoy good walks in totally natural environments, away from any typical noise of the city and in most situations I go out with my camera. There I am doing an activity where I achieve a great connection with myself and with the environment in which I am moving and where I enjoy stopping to take a picture when I see a bird, a tree or any landscape that catches my attention.
I fervently believe that the use of technology is essential in our lives, but the important thing is not to lose the essence of humanity that characterizes us as a human race.
I am not against the use of social networks or electronic media, but I maintain that while we use them we cannot forget to live real life, the one that is there when we open the front door.
The use of social networks and electronic media are highly addictive, as they cause great satisfaction and pleasure when they are used, with the problem that it takes us away from the reality that we have there next to the screen.
The use of technology in children is highly detrimental to the development of their brains that usually alter their behavior when we do not give them access to electronic media and also discourages the development of the imagination of the little ones.
To conclude with my thoughts I believe that there is a time and space for everything. The problem is not the use but the abuse.
Let's enjoy all the beautiful things that technology can offer us but let's not forget to live the life that awaits us on the other side of the door. Life is only one, it goes by very fast and we should try to enjoy it to the fullest, nurturing our hearts with beautiful sensations, those that are achieved when two beings merge in an embrace or chatting and having a coffee, face to face and not through a screen.
If there is something we should learn from the pandemic we have been living for the last two years, it is the value of human relationships, of people's spiritual connection. Tell me why we have suffered so much during the long periods of quarantine to which we have been subjected.
Undoubtedly, this topic gives for a great debate that without a doubt would be much more nourishing if we would talk about it person to person.
I leave you a big hug!
