There are so many aspects to education it's really more about living life in a fun way which permits creative growth into unexplored fields. When it comes to children it is important they have the freedom to choose their subject and settle for as long as they like upon the things which resonate with them.
The image you can see above was part of my first photoshop lesson with him. The lesson was brief and he became frustrated with the complexity of the program but now at least he knows what is possible.
Even this game we bought him at Christmas has been amazing at helping him develop patience & persistence. Which as we all know, is a rater important part of life.
Esteban & Luna take a huge amount of pleasure from creating things which have a function. This is the cat home.
We try to have a creative hour every day.
Here are a few of Esteban's recent works of art.
Love the way his focus is so often on nature.
He spends a huge amount of time every day filling up pieces of A4 paper with colour and life.
Here he is designing a computer game! Something he has been doing more and more in recent months. Yes, it is because of the ipad but I'm not going to judge this as good or bad. It is what it is. And he is taking it in his own direction.
After completion he always puts all the 'levels' out on the floor so he can play his game in his head. Or drags me over so we can play it together ;)
Ever since I bought googly eyes they have been appearing everywhere.
Even on the fruit!
Class Time
Every day we do around half an hour of 'class time'. It is not in any way like a class however. Esteban ALWAYS chooses the location and the subject he wants to learn about. After I have presented him with the options for the day.
On this occasion he wanted to draw a picture of his first love, Saskia.
Converting feelings & memories into a physical form is very much a part of his education and this certainly counts as a lesson!
The White Board
When Esteban permits I will use the white board with my lesson. Boys seem to be more visually stimulated than girls.
Here he asked me how tides work and as you can see I did my best to explain, offering both globe & flat earth models.
Question everything!
One of my main lessons I go over with him time and time again is to question everything & everyone. Including me! Eventually he will learn to do his own research (once I've taught him about the censorship on google) and he will figure things out for himself.
Here he asked me where electricity comes from. Another great question!
How do plants grow Sam?
Why do we have seasons Sam?
Why do you meditate Sam?
This one was particularly interesting because I meditated for half an hour before sunrise that morning with a focus on the Yin/Yang image. I said nothing to Esteban about this and when he woke, he immediately drew the image you can see with all the small coloured dots. Some of which clearly resemble what my mind was focused on. He didn't even need to ask for this lesson. His Higher Guides were asking me already through his art. Because yes, we are connected in ways I cannot describe with simple human words.
It is my intention to help him develop his connection & intuition because you won't find this kind of lesson on any syllabus in any school! He will know his power and he will use it wisely.
This journey has been so very unexpected because he consistently reminds me how I am capable of so much more! His memory is beyond outstanding, putting mine to shame. And his French has improved to the point where he is now my five year old translator. The way he chooses his subjects of interest too is fascinating to me. He always seems to know what it is I want to teach him...
Yesterday I taught him about the PH chart and the difference between acidic & alkaline foods because he wanted to understand how to maintain the healthiest balance in his body. This kind of info I didn't learn till I was in my 40s!
Unlike him who understood it even before his 1st birthday.
