Sustainability And Holistic Living - Ecotrain Question Of The Week

Striving to live my best life, to become in tune with my needs and explore the ways in which I can live in harmony with nature. I often get frustrated with the way in which people treat the environment, with little or no respect for nature and in total denial, of how the way they choose to live, has a huge impact on her.

Of course it is minuscule, in comparison to the impact that large corporations and industries have, but every little helps. What matters most, is our mindset. Being aware, that how we think and act, creates the world that we directly engage and live in and that, is very powerful.

A lot of people strive to live more sustainably, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that I do not want to sustain the way in which most of the world lives right now, it is not something I support. I believe we need to find ways in which we can improve our way of life.

Listening to large corporations talk about how they strive to become more sustainable, is ridiculous to me. Because all they are committing to really, is maintaining the level at which they currently operate, so that they can continue to do so for years to come. We need to be pushing for more regenerative businesses, that look at ways in which they can improve the way in which they operate.

Where their main goal, needs to focus on how their business impacts the health of the earth and all her beings. To me there is a huge difference between sustainable and regenerative. Especially when it comes to way in which us humans operate.

Nature always finds a way

Nature regenerates herself, all of the time and as I like to say, Nature is our greatest teacher. So I choose to live in a more regenerative way, open to the many ways in which I can improve my lifestyle. I am learning all the time, from many amazing people and from nature itself, on how I can live more in harmony with the earth!

Finding ways, where the decisions I make, have a positive effect on the world. The way in which I garden, the way in which I interact with nature. Ultimately, it is all about, how I can be more of service to the earth.

This week, the wonderful @ecotrain community have asked us,
"What Aspects Of Sustainability and Holistic Living are Important To You?"
Inspiring me to really look at my relationship with the concept of sustainability and what it means to me. It is certainly something that has changed over time.

Words are powerful and they are used all the time to bring things into being, so switching from a sustainable lifestyle to a regenerative one, seems like a natural progression for me. Holistic, is something different though, it is what enables us to bring everything together and work in unison, firstly with ourselves and then expanding outwards to everything our loves touch.

To me, holistic is all about embracing the whole, understanding that everything is connected. That how we think, affects our whole being, so too, does what we consume. That if you wish to heal yourself, then you need to look at every aspect of your life.

But it goes even deepen that this. We can not live our lives, caring only for what we do, caring only for our own well being. We need to remember that, we are all connected, to each other and to nature, so how we act, how interact effects us all. The way in which we choose to live, ripples out into the world. The way in which we think, influences the energy that we omit.

What is really important to me is that I remain aware and open to change. That I continue to observe, how the way in which I choose to live, affects those around me. Because in creating abundance, is really about creating for all!

I certainly don't have all of the answers, none of us do. But if we pay close attention and take the time to slow down and observe our environment, nature will speak to us and let us know.

Nature sends us signs all of the time, some more subtle than others but they are there. But first we must become in tune with ourselves, with our mind, body and spirit. Then through that, we become in tune with our environment. To me, this is Living holistically!
