Total Solar Eclipse in Texas

I have been very excited to share these pictures and videos from when I went to Texas for the total eclipse in April.

My sister lives in Texas, not too far from Dallas and invited the family to come and see the eclipse with her.

The picture below is me with 4 of my brothers and 2 sisters. My sister in law made eclipse reunion shirts, which we are wearing here.

Of course for a total eclipse we broke out Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. Scott gives us quite a show.

What a cool experience. The part that was most surprising to me is as soon as the sun broke through it was really light again. It took a while to get dark but hardly any time to get light.

We were worried about a potential storm coming through, luckily it happened the day after (a post on the storm coming) and the clouds moved so we could see the eclipse too.

In additional to watching the eclipse and dancing to Bonnie Tyler we also made a time capsule, with things important to us, to be opened at the next total solar eclipse in America in 2044.

Pictured below. Jay and me decorating the time capsule. Jay asked us for our three favorite songs and put them on an Ipod. Scotty is loving pickleball right now, Kristen put in Frankincense and Myrrh and Jodi an extra reunion shirt. I put in a book that I made of the family when we lived in Bishop.

Great times and sweet memories. I am so glad that we got together and watched the awesome natural phenomenon.

All of the family
