The photos I present to you today were taken about a month ago, on a Sunday morning walk in Los Caobos Park, Caracas, Venezuela. I take these walks regularly, to have contact with nature. The park has many trees called caobos, hence its name.
Walking through the park I came across a pond and I could not help taking pictures of some water lilies, also known as Lotus flower that were just blooming and the reflection of the sun on the pond made it look like a mirror, which caught my attention.
There is a diversity of water lilies, both in size and colors, they grow underwater, their leaves reminiscent of my childhood when I thought that these floating leaves were the houses and means of transport of frogs, but the flower emerges above the water, imposing, beautiful and full of grace.
Its botanical name is Nymphaea, native to South Africa. Goodness gracious, and it went around the world and I can have the privilege of seeing a version in a park pond near my home.
As they grow in ponds or enclosed spaces where little water circulates, they are plants that help with the micro ecosystem where they are, protecting the fish from the sun's rays, helping to keep the pond clean, aiding algae growth and maintaining the pond's temperature. I can't help but think of them as protectors.

Esta semana @bucipuci nos ha enviado al agua, jajajaja, pero si piensa que se va a deshacer de mi está muy equivocado. Lo siento @bucipuci es un poco de humor venezolano. Las fotos que les presento hoy, las tomé hace como un mes, en un paseo que di un domingo en la mañana en el Parque de Los Caobos, Caracas, Venezuela. Doy esos paseos con regularidad, para tener el contacto con la naturaleza. El parque tiene muchos árboles llamados caobos de allí su nombre.
Caminando por el parque me encontré con un estanque y no pude evitar tomar fotos de unos lirios de agua, también conocidos como flor de Loto que apenas estaban floreciendo y el reflejo del sol sobre el estanque lo hacía lucir como un espejo, cosa que captó mi atención.
Hay diversidad de Lirios de agua, tanto en tamaño como en colores, crecen bajo el agua, sus hojas rememoran mi niñez cuando pensaba que esas hojas flotantes eran las casas y medio de transporte de las ranas, pero la flor emerge sobre el agua, imponente bella y llena gracia.
Su nombre botánico es Nymphaea, originaria de África del Sur. Santo Dios, y le dio la vuelta al mundo y yo puedo tener el privilegio de ver una versión en el estanque de un parque cerca de mi casa.
Como crecen en estanques o espacios cerrados donde poco circula el agua, son plantas que ayudan con el micro ecosistema donde están, protegiendo de los rayos del sol a los peces, ayudando a mantener el estanque limpio, ayudando al crecimiento de algas y manteniendo la temperatura del estanque. No puedo evitar pensar que son unos protectores.
