Hive Holding of Splinterlands Players 2.0

I have been interested in seeing the Hive HP distribution among Splinterlands players for a while. However, I can only get top 200 staked SPS holders from public sources. Thanks to @yabapmatt I got top 1000 SPS stakeholder list! I appreciate Matt taking his time among his busy schedule to do this for me. I am also thankful to @slobberchops for adding the HP column by doing a Hive SQL and Python Magic perhaps (please ask him for details). Thanks to both of them, I have a simple spreadsheet, which I can plot in a variety of different ways to look at the data. This will be a major upgrade and improvement from my previous post.

I will start with a humbling plot! Hive HP along X-axis as a linear scale; and Staked SPS of Top 1000 SPS stakeholder along Y-axis as a log scale.

Boy! That is a lot of empty space! If any one of you were wondering why it was so hard to get SL DHF proposal funded, and why it is still hard to keep it funded, I hope you can see the answer. I am simply thankful to all hive stakeholders who doesn't play the game and yet supported the proposal!

Within the top 1000 SPS holders, there are only five accounts with more than 500K Hive Staked (HP). Remember, to vote for a DHF proposal it is the staked hive or HP that counts.

There is always a silver lining though. Now I can see the sps.dao account standing there with 1M HP. That is the latest proud addition to show the support of the Splinterlands community to Hive Ecosystem.

How are Top 1000 SPS distributed?

This can be understood from this simple plot below. I am plotting Staked Rank of Accounts along the X-axis in linear scale, vs. Staked SPS held in each account in log scale along the Y-axis. Each blue bar represent one account. The red line is the proportional cumulative fraction of each account compared to sum of 1000 account's stake SPS (698,455,189 M SPS as of now). We know the current total staked SPS is about 887,902,872. So top 1000 represent about 78.6% of total staked SPS.

I highlighted the Median of this distribution with a cyan square, which is 1.6M SPS. There are 69 accounts that stake more SPS than that number, and 931 accounts that stake less than that. So, yeah, it is a fairly skewed distribution.

Mean = 698,455
Median = 1.606M

Zoom into the SPS vs HP space

Obviously the first plot with a linear X-axis doesn't do any justice to this kind of data, so we have to spread it out by plotting it on a log scale. This shows the real picture of the HP holding of Splinterlands players. P50 of the HP distribution falls between Rank 4, Yabapmatt and Rank 5 Neoxian. So 4 accounts holds higher HP than that and 995 accounts hold HP lower than that! It is an incredibly skewed distribution.

Here is the other fact, since we are using log scale, it is difficult to plot HP lower than 1. 182 accounts hold ZERO HP. Yes, it is possible today with RC delegation.

84 accounts hold HP >10,000 Hive
215 accounts hold HP >1000 Hive
505 accounts hold HP >100 Hive
731 accounts hold HP >10 Hive
817 accounts hold HP >1 Hive

That is another way of looking at it. I do not like anyone to get frustrated by it. I see this as an opportunity. Those 495 accounts that hold less than 100 hive. They can easily double their holding by spending only $16.50. That is a lunch for one person in Houston, TX these days. I understand that is still a lot of money at different corners of the world. However, here is the most positive thing I will mention for hive:

253 Million!

Current price of 253000000 SPS is 11011582.12 SWAP.HIVE ($1809445.197123).

Yes, that is 1.8 Million Dollars total. These people are not poor. They are investors with a lot of potential.

Also if you are willing to move the bar to 10,000 hive, so 785 accounts that hold less than 10K hive, you can tap essentially all SPS whales like Vugtis, Cryptoeater, Bravetofu, Cryptomancer, and the rest! I think this is where I should stop.
