I just recently learned about this community, I didn't know about the existence of a community like this one specialized in flower and vegetable gardening. I love all this because I have in my backyard a small garden with different types of plants that produce vegetables and other ornamental and floral plants.
My name is Gabriel, some people call me Gabo and I would like to introduce you to my plantation:
Due to the type of climate in my country, a tropical climate, I am used to planting plants that grow very well here, such as bananas or yucca (or manioc). I also plant legumes, so in the backyard, where there is land to plant, I have several species of plantains, yucca and quinchoncho, a perennial shrub that produces legumes once a year.
Below, you can see some plantains that are close to producing fruit:
The next is another species of this same plant that produces a fruit a little smaller than the usual plantain, but much sweeter once it is ripe. Here in my country we know it as "locho" or "topocho".
I also have other plants a little smaller and a few offspring that are at the foot of other larger plants. This plant reproduces through these offspring that are born from its roots, which when they have a suitable size are extracted from the mother plant and planted elsewhere.
As I said, in my yard I only have the aforementioned plants. However, I manage to plant in places where I cannot. For example, in the garage of my house. There is concrete soil there, so it would be impossible to plant in a conventional way, so I built tire towers, filled them with compost and planted a series of plants there:
As can be seen in these images, the plants have developed well despite not being in a large area. They are plants of a tuber known here as "Ocumo", as well as some okra plants.
In other tire towers I planted other types of tubers such as sweet potato, a tuber similar to potato but with a sweet taste.
In some tire towers I have planted another type of tuber known in my country as "Ñame". A huge tuber of rustic texture that is used as other tubers, cut into pieces for soups, among other recipes...
As you can see in the picture below, it is a vine, so you have to place threads and wires to entangle it as it grows. It is a very invasive plant so it is necessary to take care that it gets entangled in the threads that we have placed.
Another plant I have is the lechoza, or papaya. These plants produce a very tasty fruit that I am sure you are familiar with. Here are a couple of photos of some of my plants that are already in the process of flowering and production.
These plants that I will show you are recent, they have not been planted for a long time. Although they look like a bunch of sharp leaves, they are actually pineapple plants. It is a tripical fruit that takes a year to grow, so I have to wait quite a while before eating the fruit that this plant will bear.
Now back to the cover photo. The one who does not know this type of plant could perhaps think that it is a marijuana plant, but no, they are simply Yucca or manioc plants, all in a state close to being harvested. It won't be long now...
As you can see, it is a thin plant, but it can grow quite large, even exceeding two or three meters in height depending on the type of yucca.
Finally I want you to see this little lemon. A sapling that I have about four years old, it will produce a very small lemon but with a lot of juice. It is a very sweet lemon that I have already tasted and had the joy of extracting seeds. I just have to wait a few years, certainly agriculture requires patience...

A mi me encanta todo esto porque tengo en mi patio un pequeño huerto con distintos tipos de plantas que producen vegetales y otras plantas ornamentales y florales.

Debido al tipo de clima que hay en mi país, un clima tropical, acostumbro a sembrar las plantas que aquí se desarrollan muy bien, como el plátano o la yuca (o mandioca). También acostumbro a sembrar leguminosas, así que en el patio trasero, donde hay tierra para sembrar, tengo varias especies de plátanos, yuca y quinchoncho, un árbusto perenne que produce leguminosas una vez al año.
A continuación, pueden ver unos plátanos que están próximos a producir fruto:
El siguiente es otra especie de esta misma planta que produce un fruto un poco más pequeño que el plátano habitual, pero mucho más dulce una vez que está maduro. Aquí en mi país lo conocemos como "locho" o "topocho".

Como se observa en estas imágenes, las plantas se han desarrollado bien a pesar de no estar en un terreno amplio. Son plantas de un tubérculo que aquí se conoce como "Ocumo", además de algunas plantas de Quimbombó.
En otras torres de neumáticos sembré otros tipos de tubérculos como la batata, un tubérculo parecido a la patata pero de sabor dulce.
En algunas torres de neumáticos he sembrado otro tipo de tubérculo que se conoce en mi país como "Ñame". Un tubérculo enorme de textura rústica que se usa como otros tubérculos, cortados en trozos para sopas, entre otras recetas...
Como se observa en la imagen a continuación, es una enredadera, así que hay que colocarle hilos y alambres para que se enrede a medida que va creciendo. Es una planta muy invasiva así que es necesario cuidar que se enrede en los hilos que le hemos colocado y no hacia otros lugares.
Otra planta que tengo es la lechoza, o papaya. Estas plantas producen un fruto muy rico que seguramente conocen. A continuación un par de fotos de unas de mis plantas que ya están en proceso de floración y de producción.
Estas plantas que les mostraré son recientes, no llevan mucho tiempo sembradas. Aunque parecen un montón de hojas afiladas, en realidad son plantas de piña. Es una fruta tripical que tarda un año en crecer, así que debo esperar bastante antes de comer el fruto que dará esta planta.
Volvemos ahora a la foto de portada. El que no conozca este tipo de planta tal vez podría pensar que es planta de marihuana, pero no, son simplemente plantas de Yuca o mandioca, todas en un estado próximo a ser cosechadas. Falta poco...
Como pueden ver, es una planta delgada, pero puede llegar a crecer bastante, incluso sobrepasar los dos o tres metros de alto dependiendo del tipo de yuca.
Por último quiero que vean este pequeño limón. Un arbolito que dentro de unos cuatro años aproximadamente producirá un limón muy pequeño pero con bastante jugo. Es un limón muy dulce que ya he probado y del cual pude extraer semillas. Solo debo esperar varios años, ciertamente la agricultura requiere de paciencia...
