Warm greetings all. 🙏 💚
I had the inspiration today to create another planting bed under a hala (Hawaiian name) tree, Pandanus tectorius, that is growing in the entrance to The Sanctuary of the Blue Dragon, where I've been living part time (when I'm not living in the 18-acre, off-grid, food-forest intentional community where I've lived for more than three and a quarter years now). My intention for creating this bed was beautification of the entrance to the event space. My partner/girlfriend, @kai-sunrise, who can be seen in one of the photos, helped me in this creative endeavor.
I weeded underneath the hala tree before Kaï arrived, then together we cleared rocks from the incipient bed, collected larger rocks to put around the border, added a few wheelbarrow's full of macadamia nut soil (lots of organic matter and very well drained), and then a few more wheelbarrow's full of mixed wood mulch to top it off.
This post isn't perhaps the most exciting, as there weren't any plants discussed or planted in the ground, however I wanted to share another step in the growth and unfoldment of my garden adventures here. Now to decide what to plant!
Thank you all for sharing another Lower Puna gardening moment with me! 🙏 💚
