The photos were taken right outside Kirkwall, the largest town in Orkney. This archipelago is located to the north of mainland Scotland. Because of almost 1000 years of Norse rule, the name Kirkwall comes the name Kirkjuvágr (Church Bay), which is Norse. Right outside town there are plenty of meadows and a lot of sheeps. The islands are known for wool and knitting. This is the place to buy woollen sweaters.
