The photos were taken in Bagan, Myanmar, from a balloon. We startet the tour before sunrise and let ourself float in the air across the plains with the one of worlds great religious and historical sites. On the plains around Bagan you will find ancient temples and stupas. To day there are still around 2000 left. This makes Bagan one of South-East Asia's most important archeological sites. Bagan was the capital of the first kingdom in Myanmar and built between 10th to the 14th century AD. When the kings built the city, they built more than 6000 temples, stupas and pagodas. An impressive city at the time it was at its hight (1050 – 1100). At that time it was almost 15 times bigger than London. To see the the remaining structures from the air gives a good impression of the size the city once had.
