Is Splinterlands a good investment? 10 Months Later ...

Hello friends,
more than 10 months (precisely 10 months and 19 days) have passed since I joined the beautiful game of Splinterlands.

Every month I do some calculations and write a report to evaluate Splinterlands not as a game but as an investment.

And here I am writing my 10th Splinterlands report.

My reports can be useful for those who are considering signing up on Splinterlands and want to get an idea of ​​a possible investment path to follow.

Previous Report Result

The starting point for evaluating Splinterlands as an investment is the result of the previous monthly report.
After nine months I achieved a total profit of 78,920 $ and a ROI of 34.33% compared to a total investment of 229,900 $.

Cards Purchased in August

In August I did not buy single cards on the market but I bought 20 packages of cards DICE (+1 bonus).
I used the tokens DEC and I spent a total of 58200 DEC

To calculate the dollar value of 58200 DEC I must first check the DEC value on Hive Engine (Highest Bid).

Today September 7, 2020 the best bid for 1 DEC is 0.00295 HIVE.

I spent a total of 29.2 $ (= 171.69 HIVE) .

Change Purchase Strategy

My current goal is to get back into the Champions I League.
With the introduction of the Collection Power requirement I am in the Gold I league and at least for this season I will not be able to advance in the next league.

The cards in my collection allowed me to get into the Champion I league quite easily.
Now my buying strategy has to change because it has to consider three factors:

  • the price on the market
  • the value of conversion to DEC
  • the utility in battle

Valuation of Splinterlands as an investment

To evaluate an investment you have to compare costs and revenues.

Total Investment Cost

The total cost of my investment on Splinterlands to date is given by the following sum:

Registration Cost (Starter Set) + Cost of Cards Purchased

At the beginning of August the total cost was 229.90 $.

If at 229.9 $ I add 29.2 $ I get the total cost I have incurred to date.

The total cost is 259.10 $ = 1524.118 HIVE

When I have calculated the total cost I proceed to calculate the revenues.

Revenues

On Splinterlands the revenues correspond to the value of the Cards and the value of the DEC tokens (Dark Energy Crystal).

How much are my cards worth?

To calculate the dollar value of my cards I use the site Peakmonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/@libertycrypto27/collection) which makes the calculation much easier and faster.
To calculate the value of my card collection I take into account the total value using the MarketPrices.

The total value is 299.8 $

How much is the value of my dec?

For each battle won you receive as a reward a certain amount of DEC.
Thanks to the battles won and the rewards obtained from the completion of the missions I have on my wallet a total of DEC of 6608.

To calculate the value in dollars I must first check the DEC value on Hive Engine (Highest Bid).

Today September 7, 2020 the best bid for 1 DEC is 0.00295 HIVE.

The value of my DEC tokens is therefore 3.3 $.

Now I have all the data I need to calculate any profit or loss.

Final Considerations

In ten and a half months I made a profit of 44,014 $.

The ROI obtained is 16.99 %.

Profit and ROI decreased compared to the previous month.

The ROI trend from the sixth month onwards is as follows:

  • ROI after 6 months: 34.73 %
  • ROI after 7 months: 77.02 %
  • ROI after 8 months: 10.93 %
  • ROI after 9 months: 34.33 %
  • ROI after 10 months: 16.99 %

The trend of PROFIT from the sixth month onwards is as follows:

  • PROFITTO after 6 months: 27,992 $
  • PROFITTO after 7 months: 82,346 $
  • PROFITTO after 8 months: 24,214 $
  • PROFITTO after 9 months: 78,902 $
  • PROFITTO after 10 months: 44.014 $

The profit in the eighth month fell because some players had offered for sale a large number of cards at very low prices and as a result there was a general decline in the value of many cards especially the Beta collection. My collection consists mostly of cards from the Beta collection.

In the ninth month the prices of the cards increased again and the value of my card collection also increased with the consequent increase of the ROI and Profit value.

In this month my card collection increased its value but the cost incurred for the purchase of DICE packages was higher and therefore both ROI and Profit decreased by almost half compared to the ninth month.

If I consider the upvotes I received in 10 months from the @steemmonsters account are in strong profit and the ROI is over 200%!

Ciao amici,
sono passati più di 10 mesi (precisamente 10 mesi e 19 giorni) da quando mi sono iscritto al bellissimo gioco di Splinterlands.

Ogni mese faccio un pò di calcoli e scrivo un resoconto per valutare Splinterlands non come un gioco ma come un investimento.

Ed eccomi qui a scrivere il mio decimo report su Splinterlands.

Il punto di partenza per valutare Splinterlands come investimento è il risultato del Report mensile precedente.
Dopo nove mesi ho ottenuto un profitto totale di 78.920 $ e un ROI del 34.33% a fronte di un investimento totale di 229.900 $.

Carte Acquistate ad Agosto

Nel mese di Agosto non ho acquistato singole carte sul mercato ma ho acquistato 20 pacchetti di carte DICE (+1 bonus).
Ho utilizzato i token DEC e ho speso un totale di 58200 DEC

Per calcolare il valore in dollari di 58200 DEC devo prima controllare il valore dei DEC su Hive Engine (Highest Bid).

Oggi 7 Settembre 2020 la migliore offerta di acquisto per 1 DEC è di 0.00295 HIVE.

Ho speso quindi un totale di 29.2 $ (= 38.356 HIVE) .

Cambio di Strategia di Acquisto

Il mio obbiettivo attuale è riuscire ad rientrare nella lega Champions I.
Con l'introduzione del requisito del Collection Power mi trovo nella lega Gold I e almeno per questa stagione non riuscirò ad avanzare nella lega successiva.

Le carte della mia collezione mi permettevano di arrivare abbastanza facilmente nella lega Champion I.
Adesso la mia strategia di acquisto deve necessariamente cambiare perchè deve tenere conto di tre fattori:

  • il prezzo sul mercato
  • il valore di conversione in DEC
  • l'utilità in battaglia

Valutazione di Splinterlands come investimento

Per valutare un investimento bisogna confrontare costi e ricavi.

Costo Totale Investimento

Il costo totale del mio investimento su Splinterlands fino ad oggi è dato dalla seguente somma:

Costo Iscrizione (Starter Set) + Costo Carte Acquistate

Agli inizi del mese di Agosto il costo totale era di 229.90 $.

Se a 229.9 $ aggiungo 29.2 $ ottengo il costo totale che ho sostenuto fino ad oggi.

Il costo totale è di 259.10 $ = 1524.118 HIVE

Adesso che ho calcolato il costo totale procedo a calcolare i ricavi.

I Ricavi

Su Splinterlands i ricavi corrispondono al valore delle Carte e al valore dei token DEC (Dark Energy Crystal).

Quanto valgono le mie carte?

Per calcolare il valore in dollari delle mie carte utilizzo il sito Peakmonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/@libertycrypto27/collection) che facilita e velocizza di molto il calcolo.
Per calcolare il valore della mia collezione di carte prendo in considerazione il valore totale usando i Prezzi di Mercato.

Il valore totale è di 299.8 $

Quanto valgono i miei DEC?

Per ogni battaglia vinta si riceve come ricompensa un certo quantitativo di DEC.
Grazie alle battaglie vinte e alle ricompense ottenute dal completamento delle missioni ho sul mio wallet un totale di DEC di 6608.

Per calcolare il valore in dollari devo prima controllare il valore dei DEC su Hive Engine (Highest Bid).

Oggi 7 Settembre 2020 la migliore offerta di acquisto per 1 DEC è di 0.00295 HIVE.

Adesso ho tutti i dati che mi servono per calcolare l'eventuale profitto o l'eventuale perdita.

Considerazioni Finali

In dieci mesi e mezzo ho ottenuto un profitto di 44.014 $.

Il ROI ottenuto è del 16.99 %.

Il profitto e il ROI sono diminuiti rispetto al mese precedente.

L'andamento del ROI dal sesto mese in poi è il seguente:

  • ROI dopo 6 mesi: 34.73 %
  • ROI dopo 7 mesi: 77.02 %
  • ROI dopo 8 mesi: 10.93 %
  • ROI dopo 9 mesi: 34.33 %
  • ROI dopo 10 mesi: 16.99 %

L'andamento del PROFITTO dal sesto mese in poi è il seguente:

  • PROFITTO dopo 6 mesi: 27.992 $
  • PROFITTO dopo 7 mesi: 82.346 $
  • PROFITTO dopo 8 mesi: 24.214 $
  • PROFITTO dopo 9 mesi: 78.902 $

Il profitto nell'ottavo mese é sceso perchè alcuni giocatori avevano messo in vendita un gran numero di carte a prezzi molto bassi e di conseguenza c'è stato un calo generale del valore di molte carte soprattutto della collezione Beta. La mia collezione è composta per la maggior parte proprio da carte della collezione Beta.

Nel nono mese i prezzi delle carte sono tornati a crescere ed è cresciuto anche il valore della mia collezione di carte con il conseguente aumento del valore del ROI e del Profitto.

In questo mese la mia collezione di carte ha aumentato il suo valore ma il costo sostenuto per l'acquisto dei pacchetti DICE è stato maggiore e quindi sia il ROI che il Profitto hanno subito una diminuzione quasi della metà rispetto al nono mese.
