The Gaugan IA Contest on Hive - Week 43 | O Concurso Gaugan IA no Hive - Semana 43.
My drawing was created using the software, Nvidia GauGAN. This week's drawing represents a beach scene with a hotel, beach houses, and condos.
In this drawing, I decided to see how the Gaugan AI Drawing program would handle a background utilizing an image of a beach scene. I found and uploaded a photo of a beach located on the Gulf Coast among my personal inventory of travel photos.
I have included here my original photograph:
Below is the brushstroke image of my personal background beach photo after I uploaded it to the program.
After looking at the interpreted drawing, I felt it needed something extra, so I inserted the following brushstrokes:
- To the left side to be interpreted as a row of houses.
- To the top to add clouds to the skyline.
- To the bottom right side some bushes and trees to add a bit more greenery.
My brushstrokes truly enhanced my original photograph. Below is my complete brushstroke canvas with my additions:

I noticed was that the Gaugan program didn't include any type of images that represented the people on the beach. The picture is a bit dark and the figures blurry. I only wanted the beach scene, hotel, and skyline for the background, so I was pleased with the result. Also, I couldn't get the brushstroke for the sea to produce even a semblance of water.
Another feature I noticed about the photograph I uploaded is that the interpreted drawing had a smoother texture than just the brushstrokes. Not so much grainy in appearance.
I then applied several filters and effects. Here are my results:
