Greetings fellow walkers! Today I am pleased to take you on my Wednesday walk with some pictures of important places in San Cristóbal, the capital of Táchira state in Venezuela.

I left my house on my way to the public library. I had the intention of taking my daughter to the 2 years old area, I remember when I was a student this children's area was full of thick cardboard books for children and didactic games. To my surprise the library was closed.

I went to the police station to ask what hours they had and the policeman explained that after the pandemic, the library did not work again.

Salí de mi casa con rumbo a la biblioteca pública. Tenía la intensión de llevar a mi hija para el área de 2 años, recuerdo en mi época de estudiante esta área infantil estaba repleta de libros de cartón grueso para niños y juegos didácticos. Para mi sorpresa la biblioteca estaba cerrada.

Fui a la estación de policía a preguntar qué horario tenían y el policía me explicó que después de la pandemia, la biblioteca no volvió a funcionar.

When I was in college, there was a coffee shop downstairs in the library. This was the meeting point for study meetings, to have lunch and then plan the next day's and the week's classes with my classmates. It was there that I received extra math classes because I was having trouble with this subject. And it broke my heart to see the place closed, without people, without students.

Cuando yo estudiaba en la universidad, en la parte de abajo de la biblioteca había un cafetín. Este era el punto de reuniones de estudio, para almorzar y luego planificar las clases del día siguiente y de la semana con mis compañeros. En ese lugar recibí clases de matemáticas adicionales porque tenía problemas con esta materia. Y me rompió el corazón ver el lugar cerrado, sin personas, sin estudiantes.

The surroundings of the library are kept clean. But I found one of the windows broken. Inside you can see the books and the tables where people sit to read.

Los alrededores de la biblioteca se mantiene limpio. Pero me encontré uno de los cristales rotos. Adentro se pueden observar los libros y las mesas donde las personas se acomodan para leer.

También pasamos frente a la Iglesia San José. Que se encuentra a una cuadra del centro cívico.
