Last night, I went to dinner at Gertrude's (a restaurant in the garden) with some close friends and then we walked around and saw Chihuly at night to celebrate my birthday. It was a wonderful evening with my favorite things- gardens, art, Chihuly, good food, laughter, and my friends.
This is the third time that Chihuly has come to the Desert Botanical Garden. In 2008 he installed these pieces at the entrance. The garden did a fundraiser and purchased the them for 4 million dollars.
Here they are as we were coming to the garden at sunset, and as we were leaving, and a selfie of us in front of them.

You might remember my walk on December 1, 2021 Wednesday Walk: Desert Botanical Garden
I showed you the garden and Chihuly in the morning light.
Here is Chihuly at night in the Desert Botanical Garden
The walk was 0.72 miles and 49 minutes.
This is the first piece you see when you enter the garden and it is stunning. Chihuly is a master of light, color and shapes!
Here is a picture of me and my friends sitting in front of the boat. The guard, who took our picture told us that the boat was worth 8 million dollars.
Here you can see how the glass is so gracefully intertwined with the cactus and plants in the garden.
This one is much better in the day time.
This one is much better at night. and it is very unusual for Chihuly. I have never seen him do neon lights.
The colors on this one are beautiful in the day and night.
This is one of his newer pieces
We were in awe about how he constructed these masterpieces, especially this one.
What a perfect way to spend my birthday going on a walk in the garden and I am glad I can share it with you too.
