hi hivers! Some of you asked me how I do to animate these NFT short animations, so I was doing some tutorials of the tools and tricks I use.
First you need to be very organized, because we are going to separate the original drawing on different layers. You can use a pixel based software as Adobe Photoshop (or any that saves the files as PSD, like Gimp), or other vector based like Adobe Illustrator (or any other that saves the files as AI, like Corel Draw or Inkscape), but it requires having the option of use layers

Primero necesitas estar muy organizado, porque vamos a separar el dibujo original en diferentes capas. In this example we are going to animate the hair in the wind. First we start with this drawing. I separated it into three layers, the head is the front layer, and two layers for the hair. If you mix different layers for the hair, it gives it different movement and that makes it more organic, because the hair movement is irregular and unpredictable.
En este ejemplo vamos a animar el cabello al viento. Primero comenzamos con este dibujo. Lo separé en tres capas, la cabeza es la capa frontal y dos capas para el cabello. Si mezclas diferentes capas para el cabello, le da un movimiento diferente y eso lo hace más orgánico, porque el movimiento del cabello es irregular e impredecible.
Here I have imported the file as a composition on After effects. You can see that it still has the same layers here.

We are going to use an effect called wave distort to simulate the sway of the hair in the wind.
You can set up the width and the height of the size of these waves. Here you can see different height settings for the waves.

Puede configurar el ancho y la altura del tamaño de estas olas. Aquí puede ver diferentes configuraciones de altura para las olas.
You can also setup the speed and the direction of the effect. Here you can see two different speed settings and directions.
También puede configurar la velocidad y la dirección del efecto. Aquí puede ver dos configuraciones de velocidad e direcciones diferentes.
Here you can see the result of the wave distort! I have added another wave to the other layer with different speed and direction, so both layers are moving at different speed and direction.
¡Aquí puedes ver el resultado de la distorsión de la onda! Agregué otra onda a la otra capa con diferente velocidad y dirección, por lo que ambas capas se mueven a diferente velocidad y dirección.
Now we are going to add another distort effect for giving a more organic movement. We are going to use a turbulent displacement distort. This deforms the image randomly. Here I'm moving the handle so you can see how it works, I will add keyframes later for the handle movement in the animation.

And here you can see the result of the combination of the wave distort and the turbulent displacement in the two layers.
