Splinterlands art contest

Hola mi gente, feliz noche para todos. Hoy he culminado con un trabajo que me llevo muchísimo tiempo pero quede muy enamorada, este dibujo es mi entrada para el concurso de @Splinterlands de esta semana para el cual elegí la carta de Epona, una carta que tenía muchísimas ganas de dibujar desde hace un tiempo pero tenia miedo de hacerlo ya que no suelo dibujar animales muy seguido y realmente me costo bastante poder hacer este caballo, pero para hacer mi trabajo un poco menos difícil decidí utilizar esta técnica de pintado que me permite pintar un poco mas libre, sin ser perfecta pero dándole una forma y acabado bastante artístico a todo el dibujo, quise representar a esta carta de una manera rustica y ruda, una mirada que me gusta mucho hacer últimamente es con esta expresión de ceño fruncido, cambiando un poco la atmosfera de la carta original donde vemos dos personajes que lucen bastante adorables, para pintar utilice 3 pinceles, un pincel difuso, uno con textura de oleo y finalmente un pincel de textura de tiza, los cuales me ayudaron muchísimo a dar este efecto como si todo estuviese desvanecido o pintando con oleo en lienzo, espero que les guste esta versión tanto como me gustó a mi.

Today I have finished with a work that took me a long time but I just freaking love it!! this drawing is my entry for the @Splinterlands art contest this week for which I chose Epona's card, a card that I wanted to draw for a while but I was afraid to do it because I don't draw animals very often and it really cost me a lot to make this horse, but to make my work a little less difficult I decided to use this painting technique that allows me to paint a little more freely, without being perfect but giving a very artistic shape and finish to the whole drawing, I wanted to represent this card in a rustic and rough way, a look that I really like to do lately is with this frown expression, changing a little the atmosphere of the original card where we see two characters that look quite adorable, to paint I used 3 brushes, a difuse brush, one with oil texture and finally a chalk texture brush, which helped me a lot to give this effect as if everything was faded or painting with oil on canvas, I hope you like this version as much as I liked it.

Proceso/Process

Tenia esta idea en mente de hacer un retrato, pero aún no había elegido con cual carta trabajar, vi la carta de Epona y decidí arriesgarme por fin luego de huirle por un par de meses lol, hice dos bocetos que desheche hasta que me quede con este, aunque no me convencía del todo simplemente decidí confiar en el proceso, elegí los colores a trabajar para la piel, los cuales fueron de diferentes tonalidades incluyendo verde oliva, color crema, rosas, marrones, en una nueva capa añadí mas colores para darle mas forma al rostro, coloque el color base en el caballo y en el vestido usando para el vestido un tono verde y para el cabello un marrón grisáceo. Mezcle todos los tonos que había colocado en la piel para darle un mejor acabado pero dejando algo de textura para que todo el dibujo tuviese ese efecto de óleo, también pinté los pliegues del vestido agregando verdes claros y oscuros.

I had this idea in mind to make a portrait, but I still hadn't chosen which card to work with, I saw Epona's card and decided to take the risk finally after running away from her for a couple of months lol, I made two sketches that I discarded until I was left with this one, although I wasn't completely convinced I just decided to trust the process, I chose the colors to work with for the skin, which were of different shades including olive green, cream, pinks, browns, in a new layer I added more colors to give more shape to the face, I placed the base color on the horse and on the dress using for the dress a green tone and for the hair a grayish brown.
I mixed all the tones that I had placed on the skin to give it a better finish but leaving some texture so that the whole drawing had that oil painting effect, I also painted the folds of the dress adding light and dark greens.

Empecé a darle detalles al vestido colocando estos adornos de oro en el borde, para pintar el cabello coloqué un marrón claro de base, seguido de un amarillo rubio, con el pincel difuso comencé a darle forma al caballo, aplicando sombras y luces. Con el pincel de tiza empecé a pintar mejor el cabello agregando mechones de diferentes tonos, para el fondo utilice el pincel difuso y agregue una variedad de colores que le darían un contraste diferente a todo el dibujo.

I started to give details to the dress by placing these gold ornaments on the edge, to paint the hair I placed a light brown as a base, followed by a blonde yellow, with the diffuse brush I started to shape the horse, applying shadows and highlights.
With the chalk brush I started to paint better the hair adding strands of different tones, for the background I used the diffuse brush and added a variety of colors that would give a different contrast to the whole drawing.

Ahora mezclé los colores que puse de fondo con el pincel de tiza y también con el de oleo y así darle ese acabado que lo hace lucir como pintura real, luego le di mas detalles al caballo con mas sombras y luces, utilizando una combinación de los 3 pinceles que estaba usando termine la piel del caballo y su cabello, ahora comencé a dar pinceladas en todos los bordes del dibujo, en el borde del vestido, cabello, caballo, piel, etc. creando así aun mas ese efecto de desvanecer, para finalizar le di un toque de edición al dibujo para darle un acabado con mas profundidad y mas colorido.

Now I mixed the colors that I put in the background with the chalk brush and also with the oil brush to give it that finish that makes it look like real paint, then I gave more details to the horse with more shadows and lights, using a combination of the 3 brushes that I was using, I finished the horse's skin and hair, now I started to give brushstrokes in all the edges of the drawing, in the edge of the dress, hair, horse, skin, etc. creating this way even more that effect of fading, to finish I gave an editing touch to the drawing to give it a finish with more depth and more colorful.
