Hello everybody! C: I have a lot to tell you! before that, hello! i'm thisnewgirl pixelart artist, and today is the 16th day of my personal challenge of drawing a pixelart per day, that besides drawing it part of the challenge is to make a frame by frame animation of this pixelart, since the last time i posted a lot of things happened that made me focus my attention on everything but my pc screen, from taking care of a wounded bird that now I have next to me and I have to feed, and proteccc, earthquakes, being worried about someone being ded and much more, that is part of my private life of which I will share at least my story with the wounded bird..

This week the illustration theme was a perfect meeting of ideas, challenges and the suggestion that a follower when I just started the challenge left in a message, at the end of my posts I usually ask "what would you like me to draw next time?"
to which in my first week of the challenge someone commented: a dragon !

A DRAGON! do you have any idea how many times I have drawn dragons in my life?

exactly 0, none

XD not once in my existence, and to make a long story short, I was terrified to throw myself into that well of unknown creativity because, the illustration, the good illustration, as a base has the careful observation of how things work, the elements, the colors, the lights, etc.

and I

1, I had not even observed lizards for more than 0, seconds and
2, I had never drawn a dragon before, the colors, the lights etc etc, and I 1, I had not observed lizards for more than 0, seconds and 2, neither had I studied dragons, I may have seen a couple in games but nothing that I observed carefully to draw because it was what I considered "very complicated".

But as we don't know everything in this world, and every day you learn something new, after my post about coffee, Mr. Dragon made a very nice comment towards my pixelart "how can i drink this art?"
to which I answered with "to drink the art you must become art".
C: that's how the possibility of drawing MR.Dragon drinking the coffee, which he liked so much, came to light.

A DRAGON, his avatar is a dragon! so i already had the theme and the challenge of the day:

From my point of view, I honestly wanted something that represented this super cool person, and his approach/ interests, so I had a big challenge, let's go step by step and I'll tell you how was my experience drawing a dragon drinking coffee C:

This image, as small as it may seem, is my reference, it is just a screenshot of his avatar, C: and I decided to work with it, because being a small image, I could simplify the elements, silhouettes and colors C: (and I was embarrassed to ask for the original image of his avatar because XD I am shy to talk).

lets start with : what the fu is this sketch is this a dragon?

my god... of all the sketches I've done this is the one I've done and deleted and edited over and over again, I started with what I thought was a lizard face.
and base shape for body/ posture

A fancy suit (at least that was easy), and... again editing the face and how exactly or what exactly I would do, this was my second edit that I have record of, but I spent hours deleting squares (pixels) and adding others XD so I don't know exactly how many edits I did the truth.

o...kay ? we are moving

i liked that shape ! but the pixels were a bit out of place, the numbering was not polished, the lines looked a bit weird.

second attempt

ehhh way too stiff imo, but i moved on, and started doing the coloring

finally some fancy colors! starting with a flat base

adding some shadows and colors !

now its looking fancy C:

i was happy so far with the colors i picked, no black at all, this is gray orange.

now adding colors to the other side.

fixed the face shape ! mixing the two good options i got, the stiff and the messy lines

i colored the hand too to start adding shapes and lights in the next layer

this was a challenge ! but i think i got it right C:

i made a background

but had 1 tinny little problem... orange and green? thats not it, dragon is melting with that background
2 problems, lineart not feeling nice, and feeling messy

i started doing a hat shape

mostly like a base one, to fix the size and all that.

removing lineart to see if the outlines are an issue and

yes my outiles made the whole art look errrhmm not cool so i had to think on how to fix it

3 doritos later :

new color for the bacground to separate the dragon (green) from the sky (orange) and using the neoxian city as a jam on a sandwich (blue/purple)

11 frames for the animation

i animated the steam of the coffee and the dragon breath cicle and blink.
