Splinterlands Art Contest Week 270 | πŸ”₯ Fire Elemental πŸ”₯

Hello everyone! Welcome to my Art blog!

I want to share my entry for this week's Splinterlands art contest and the monster I've chosen is the Fire Elemental card. I integrated the things I learned in Marc Brunet's coloring process, and Marco Bucci's brushwork techniques, and ofc also added my own taste.

Art Process

I started with a rough sketch and made a lineart on some parts in which I intended to be in sharp edges. I started the painting process with grayscale as I've learned from Marc Brunet. I painted the parts step by step so that I wouldn't be lost in the shading. I first painted my intended resolve part - the head using the airbrush and soft brush to achieve that smooth skin of the face. Then the scribbled part will be the rest of it. It's something I learned from Marco Bucci, scribbling using lots of brushes but for it to not look messy I should keep the fundamentals such as the shapes, edges, the light and shadow part, and the direction of the brush strokes while scribbling.

Painting the grayscale really took a lot of time but it was fun and comfortable compared to directly painting with colors. And it was all worth the effort to see the result after hitting the Multiply blending mode on flat colors, it looks amazinggg XD. I then added an overlay for the lights, the result here seems okay if she's a human but she's not, she's a fire elemental and she should be on fire. I need her to glow on overall that's why I changed the blending mode on the flat colors from Multiply to Overlay and the result is πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

I then added background textures and some details. I adjusted her hair to cover more of the forehead part because it is uncomfortably big. I also added and changed the color of lineart, I initially planned to remove the lineart but it was already late when I realized I accidentally painted on it and everything is already merged😨
