Beyond Doubt: Whispers of the Unseen - Chapter 112

Beyond Doubt (2).jpg

Welcome to my seemingly endless journey.
A trip that will take you to places I might have visited many moons ago.
It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.

As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.

Chapter 112

Dear Reader, I do not believe in all conspiracies. I only rose from my eternal sleep to ask you whether you really think for yourself. Or for someone else?

Whether you are aware of how your feet are being played with when it comes to your sense of reality.

That ever since that first slap on your pink baby bottom, the world has been presenting things to you as unbending reality.

The reality Dear Reader, reaches as far as your imagination. As far as you can let go of the boundaries and open the doors to the equally possible.

Have I lost you, or are you still following obediently?

Hopefully I've lost you. Lost to a world full of new reality.

My eternal curiosity is uncontrollable, it´s driving me straight to the door of Numico's room as soon as I'm dressed. I knock softly.

“Come in, Martio,” says the voice from behind the door.

I walk in with a smile. “You already know me quite well, don't you?” I say as I sit down.

The boy is busy washing himself. “No one is more curious than you, and no one has more right to the first version of the story than you.”

“Tell me, how was it?” I feel like a little boy whose friend has kissed a girl and is now going to report it.

“He is a good man, at least deep in his heart. But he doesn't know it himself. He is wise, but as ignorant as he is knowledgeable. He has many faces but he knows only a few of them. His life has made him a prisoner of obligations and displays of power." Nodding, I indicate to Numico to continue, but he remains silent for a moment.

“What does he want from you?” I ask.

“You would like to know that, don´t you?"

"Well, he doesn't know that himself. But he knows he knows me. He has seen the same images, heard the same things I did. He is convinced that I have a message for him. A message that is more important than anything.”

My eyebrows furrow. “Isn't that true? What did you tell him?”

“As little as possible. I mainly listened, then I asked him what he was looking for. What does he think the message is?”

“He thought about it for a long time but couldn't give me an answer.

"As the conversation progressed, he became more and more approachable. So I took this opportunity to make a few things clear."

"If he wants to receive the message, it is necessary not to speak to his advisors about what we are discussing. I also told him that we had had some unpleasant experiences with his soldiers. And that we therefore prefer not to be confronted with these advisors."

"He understood and would limit their permission to the right wing of the palace so that they would not meet us."

"I told him that it is quite possible that if they know about what is going on, they will put pressure on us or some of us, possibly even threaten us. That based on our experience and information we know that they do everything they can to let him know only what they want him to know."

"At first, he didn't believe much of my words, but when I presented him with a number of things, such as information missing from reports, requests from people outside the circle of advisors, and the minimal contact they allow him with the population, he slowly started to understand that I may have been telling the truth."

"That is the biggest obstacle; he has to be sure that I can be trusted. And that is the reason I dare not tell him anything truly important."

"I will feed him crumbs to keep him interested, but I need to have his trust. He must accept what I tell him as truth; otherwise, it is meaningless. This man doubts everything, which is very appropriate in an empire like this. Where you never know why someone is your friend. And certainly not knowing who your enemies are.”

There's a knock. I open the door, and the Sikh himself stands in front of us.

"Numico, would you be so kind as to accompany me this morning?" Numico nods, "Of course, your Divine Highness." The man looks at me for a moment and then leaves, leaving me alone in the room.

It's very confusing, His Highness personally coming to collect Numico, strange.

Over the next few days, I see very little of NUmico and speak to him even less. The Sikh is constantly making demands on the boy. If he had not warned me, I would have become worried.

My days pass quickly. We are allowed to use all the facilities the palace offers us. We ride the most beautiful horses, enjoy steam rooms and salt baths. We play Krion (between skittles and bocce) to our heart's content on an unimaginably beautiful course made of white, shiny wood.

No one rushes or worries about what the day will bring. During the evenings, we are in the company of Krya and Sion. Something I look forward to every morning.

The conversations become more friendly over the days, but fortunately, dinner does not. What stands out most is that even at dinner, the Sikh is concerned only with Numico. Every now and then I am able to catch part of their conversation, but it is never anything concrete, and my curiosity is killing me.
