Beyond Doubt: Whispers of the Unseen - Chapter 59

Beyond Doubt (2).jpg

Welcome to my seemingly endless journey.
A trip that will take you to places I might have visited many moons ago.
It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.

As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.

Chapter 59

Dear Reader, When do you choose the beaten path and when do you fight through impassable terrain?

If you want to get where everyone has already been, you logically choose the broadest path.

But that narrow hare path or that impassable rock path? Do they really take you to new places, or do all roads eventually just lead to Rome?

Is it actually worth the effort or is the effort in vain and will I still end up next to the Colosseum?

Krayto was now behind us, but my thoughts went back to the village and its residents, who were so nice during those first days.

I also thought about Remo, it was strange that he wasn't there when we had to flee. He had previously said that he would stay for the time being, because he would be called up as a director in the foreseeable future. Yet he had suddenly left for the estate to arrange some things.

What had changed? I couldn't put my finger on the sore spot in the whole story. In any case, it didn't sit well with me. The darkness and silence brought each of us back to his or her core. Something that would hardly have been possible given all the tensions in the village. It feels as if I have also left a certain pressure behind when I left the village.

When I think back to what happened in Krayto, I can't imagine how my village would fare if these horsemen were to kick their claws out there. It would suffocate us, our whole way of life would be disrupted.

At the same time we would have nothing to offer them. Would the fact that our village did not use financial resources save her? This positive thought is immediately followed by an anxious feeling that comes over me.

The lack of property might as well be our downfall. If we have nothing to offer, what use are we to the occupiers? My village, I miss the simple way of life, the simplicity, and the peace. Now that I have left its safe borders so far behind me, I see what else this immense world has to offer.

This journey so far has brought both beauty and horror, but in all honesty, the beauty does not outweigh the horror. Our community may be limited by old customs and ideas, but it is based on respect and rituals, which apply to all and everyone accepts that. We are a community that cares for each other. Where strong and weak work together. A unity that I see very little in the world into which I have ventured so ignorantly.

The days that followed were long and hard. We avoided the trails, which made the woods virtually impassable. Yet we were all convinced that this route would be the safest. Besides, it would only take a few days. They wouldn't be looking for us for much longer, or so we hoped.

After the fifth day, the landscape became completely impassable. Rocks loomed sideways and deep gorges blocked our passage several times. The shelter that the trees previously provided us had thinned out to a pine tree here and there.

It seemed that we were forced to follow the beaten track. Everyone had their doubts, but no one raised any objections. Pursuers, who had chosen the path, must have passed us by now and
completely lost our scent, so much that they had returned empty-handed.

Each of us was eager to finally reach the city where "the ruler of the world" was hiding. Far away from all his atrocities for which he was responsible. Murders and rapes that took place in his name. But who were we to remind this man of his responsibilities?

The images of my visions, but also the way in which the city that we had so carefully left was taken over filled me with anger, fear, and powerlessness.

More and more often I felt that it was almost impossible to do anything against this domination machine. A mechanical beast of which we had only seen a few cogs. The immensity of this machine was beyond our imagination. How could I think that we could stop these developments

I turn my head so I can look at the group behind me. One by one they are gifted beings. One by one they have a good reason to undertake this journey. One by one, they are willing not to return if it would bring them one step closer to their goal.

If coincidence does not exist, this group is predestined, but until its destination is reached, its destiny is not clear either. She may be gathered to stop the ruler, but can also be a ray of hope. Hope that the rulers will extinguish, in order to once again prove their superiority over the people.

We can be wiped out in this way with the aim of introducing the people to the very heavy hand of the new ruler. We would perish like fools. Like madmen who thought they could break power and are now being broken themselves in order to serve as an example and prevent others from taking up arms against the oppressors.

That night, before we tried to find our way back from the wilderness, I expressed my doubts. Everyone, even Monta, listened attentively.

When I had finished everyone was silent for a long time. It was Cabilah who spoke first. “It may not be up to me, since I joined your party last. But this period has been the best of my life. My feeling speaks and tells me that this is the right choice, regardless of whether we will achieve our goal, I am on the right path, with the right people."

"The goal we have in mind may be unattainable, we may be stopped early by whatever. It's not for us to worry about that. If the gods want us to succeed, we will succeed, if it is the will that this new kingdom is better governed, we will succeed, either those who come after us, or those who follow in our footsteps much later with the same ideals."

"We can only live in the present. The choices we have made have brought us here. Looking back, I am happy with my choices. You are more family than I could ever have imagined."

"Wherever the road that we will reach tomorrow leads, it will be the right one. Because, she is our way.”

After these words, everyone nodded in agreement, although the voices were silent. It was clear that the words Cabilah had spoken applied to all of us in some way.

We had all lived in a form of captivity from which we had freed ourselves. Now that we ourselves had been liberated, we pursued liberation.
