Beyond Doubt: Whispers of the Unseen - Chapter 67

Beyond Doubt (2).jpg

Welcome to my seemingly endless journey.
A trip that will take you to places I might have visited many moons ago.
It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.

As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.

Chapter 67

Dear Reader, Do you know how to find your core?

Are you aware when you exchange your daily life with your higher self?

Do you know your darkest side and do you know what it is capable of?

To harm or let go of another person at the expense of your own skin.

Who will save you, yourself or others?

I listen to Reiko's story in silence. Something inside me says he's happy to be talking to someone with more sense than the average cow. This man is out of place here, that's clear to me, and that could work to our advantage. Although Reiko's precautions have robbed us of many opportunities to ever use the advantage.

When I return to our cage, only Numico is there, looking around in a daze. He laughs stupidly when I enter, “They took Cabilah away, and then Retsj away.”

I look at the cage next to us, which has disappeared, including its occupant. I put my arm around Numico and give him a hug. “I know, son, I'll tell you later when they're asleep.”

It takes a long time for the night to come. The words I want to share burn holes in my tongue, but who would believe Numico's role when I explain all the details to him in a full-fledged conversation?
I know it's better to wait. Every now and then I can make a number of things clear in a simple sentence. But most of it has to wait for the thick of darkness to envelop us. Wait until sleep slays most of our enemies.

It takes effort, a lot of effort. Seconds pass so slowly that I feel like time no longer exists. That the sun no longer moves and that darkness will never again offer us its protection.

I wake up with a start when Numico pinches my arm. "Damn it, now I want to know too, it's great that you fall asleep and kept me in suspense," he says, apparently annoyed. I shake my head slightly to clear the drowsiness and thank the gods for putting me to sleep.

“You were right, it was Remo, it couldn't be any other way. He was probably held responsible for the disappearance of our party. Of course, he wasn't the most heroic person. He may have told a little more than what he heard out of fear, partly to avoid losing his place in the council. Maybe this way he can continue to manage most of his capital."

"Of course, Rash kindly thanked him for his information. He must have agreed to occasionally turn a blind eye to the larger transactions that Remo will make. I don't know what exactly Remo heard, but apparently, he took it as that we wanted to kill the Sikh.”

"For the time being, I have been able to make their captain doubt Remo's credibility. Reiko is a special figure, but I explain that in a bit. What I told him was that we are innocent. You will not believe how strongly the gods came to our aid, again. This man has actually a conscience, an honest and just one at that.

"He will send a messenger to Rash, to put pressure on Remo. I'm afraid he won't change his story even after torture. Possibly he himself believes in his words, which will mean that my words are weighed against his. The disadvantage is that this decision will not be made by our man here, but by Rash. Reiko has no influence whatsoever on the outcome. Nor will he be able to ignore the judgment."

"Knowing Rash, despite the slightest doubt his fading brain may give him, he will quickly decide that we are better off getting rid of him. If only to be on the safe side and not make the whole action useless."

"He will be able to tell his commander how decisively he acted in getting rid of a group of terrorists who were targeting the Sikh. This will enable him to justify his actions and the use of excessive resources. In addition, it will be able to increase his prestige in the eyes of his commander. Something that is apparently very valuable in this militaristic society."

I also tell Numico that as a precautionary measure, we are no longer allowed to have contact with each other and that anything that even resembles escape would most likely cost us our necks.

“So a delay of execution, well, it's better than nothing. But we don't get much out of it,” sighs Numico.

“I know it seems that way, but have faith. This is not a pointless delay. Something's about to happen. I know, it has to be done. This disadvantage will work to our advantage, and it will be the first step to someone's downfall.”

Numico looks at me quizzically for a moment. “You're so sure of yourself, I don't know you like that. But your vibrations are also stronger than before. What did that man do to you? What did he say that made you feel so strongly? No, you don't have to answer, I think I already feel it. You, Martino, are in touch with your core in a way I have never experienced with you before."

"Apparently, you have accepted some things and left others behind. I feel new strength flowing through you, which reassures me more than your words ever could. If your trust comes from your core, it is stronger than any army. It was sent to you by your knowing self, and in that sense, it is more valuable than the word of a, what did you call him, Sikh?"

"Numico, why are you transferring to you? And that core event, if you know so much about it, why did you need my trust?"

"As you know, master, my thoughts and feelings reach further than those of most others, but organizing them takes so much effort and energy that I am too easily distracted from taking the spiritual journey within. What I tell you is probably because I see that you have grown, and I have a lot of respect for that."

I smile at the boy: "Master Oniko told me that as I grow older, I will learn to control everything better and that meditation and viewing my core would be among my possibilities. But until then, I must be patient and accept my situation," I think of all the times I opened my eyes in disappointment after a meditation that was intended to explore the deepest part of myself.
