Today, we will have a new adventure, and my goal is for you to experience the taste of the Venezuelan Caribbean coast. I emphasize this initial aspect: Venezuela is one of the 12 megadiverse countries on the planet. Venezuela is a Caribbean, Andean, Amazonian, and Atlantic country. Surprising, right? That’s what makes this place beautiful: its natural diversity.

My journey began in the city of Barquisimeto, heading to Falcón. We left early from the city; I remember we didn’t have gasoline in the car. We had to wait in a long line at a station before leaving Barquisimeto. We took the Trunk Road 1 to get to The Road to Happiness.

On the road (Trunk Road 1), we made several stops. The first one was at a shop where we usually eat empanadas when traveling. This shop is at the end of the town of Sabana de Parra, in the state of Yaracuy. Venezuelan empanadas here are very good, large, and reasonably priced.

We made a quick stop, bought our breakfast, and ate it in the car. Then, we made another stop to buy Venezuelan fried pork crackling cookies. If I’m not mistaken, we bought this cracklings at the entrance to Morón. A true traveler in Venezuela buys fried pork crackling cookies on the road. It’s the most delicious thing ever!

The trip to Falcón took approximately four hours. After passing Morón, we went by the Petrochemical Complex, one of the largest and most important in the country. I didn’t take a photo of the complex or the Petrochemical itself. What I can say for sure is that it is in poor condition due to lack of investment and the effects of nationalization (state-owned companies are a burden; you know, they excessively increase public spending, and the bailouts come from taxpayer money).

Before reaching The Road to Happiness, you’ll encounter the coast near the petrochemical’s beach. There were also some houses eroded by the salty air from the beach, but I didn’t take photos because we were in the car, and it was a bit tricky.

We arrived at The Road to Happiness, and I was amazed. This is one of the most famous places in Venezuela due to the formation of palm trees along the entire coastline. The aerial view here is incredible, but the view from the perspective of driving down the road is extraordinary. It’s something you can only appreciate when you pass through there. It’s gorgeous.

This place is named like this because of the happiness it brings before reaching Tucacas and the Morrocoy National Park. Additionally, it’s a road trip where the main route is lined on both sides by thousands of palm trees (the exact number of palm trees hasn’t been counted, but it’s estimated that there are hundreds of them).

Let me show you a perspective of how stunning the view is on The Road to Happiness. The way the sky looms over the clouds is surprising. It’s something everyone should experience!

Once there, I took the opportunity, along with my family, to stop and take several photos. My picture with my typical Venezuelan hat couldn’t be missing. The way the palm trees look is amazing. The challenge was taking the photos because the sun was very strong. The heat was overwhelming. I recommend wearing sunscreen.

In this place, you can park your car on the side of the road or even find designated spots where you can stop briefly to appreciate the beauty of the area.

From The Road to Happiness, you can see the Caribbean Sea coast. The palm trees act as a natural barrier that stops and slows down the wind circulating from the waves of the sea. It’s a spectacle to feel how the wind moves in that place.

The vegetation is abundant there; everything is green. One thing I must highlight is that the edge of the road that accesses the coast has a larger number of palm trees. That makes everything even more incredible. The opposite side has fewer palm trees, but it’s noticeable that they’ve been growing and expanding little by little.

Finally, I took the opportunity to snap a photo on my motorcycle. It’s my faithful companion these days, and I’m traveling to all the places I’ve shown so far on my blog with it. The Road to Happiness is a prelude to the beauty of Tucacas and the Morrocoy National Park. It’s a special place where you can feel the essence and beauty of Venezuela.

Vamos Juntos a El Camino a la Felicidad – Falcón

Hoy tendremos una nueva aventura, y mi propósito es que sientas el sabor de las costas del Caribe venezolano. Resalto este aspecto inicial: Venezuela es uno de los 12 países megadiversos del planeta. Venezuela es un país caribeño, andino, amazónico y atlántico. ¿Sorprendente? Eso es lo que hace hermoso este lugar: su diversidad natural.

Mi viaje partió de la ciudad de Barquisimeto hacia Falcón. Salimos temprano de la ciudad; recuerdo que no teníamos gasolina en el carro. Hicimos una larga cola en una estación antes de salir de Barquisimeto. Tomamos la troncal 1 para poder llegar a El Camino a la Felicidad.

En la carretera o troncal 1, hicimos varias paradas. La primera fue en un comercio donde solemos comer empanadas cuando vamos de viaje. Este comercio está al final de la ciudad o pueblo de Sabana de Parra, en el Estado Yaracuy. Las empanadas venezolanas aquí son muy buenas, grandes y a buen precio.

Hicimos una parada rápida, compramos nuestro desayuno y comimos en el carro. Luego hicimos otra parada para comprar galletas de chicharrón frito venezolano. Si mal no me equivoco, estos chicharrones los compramos en la entrada de Morón. El viajero que se respeta en Venezuela compra en carretera galletas de chicharrón venezolanas. ¡Es lo más delicioso que existe!

El viaje para llegar a Falcón duró aproximadamente cuatro horas. Luego de pasar Morón, pasamos por la Petroquímica. Una de las más importantes y grandes del país. No le tomé una foto ni al complejo ni a la propia Petroquímica en sí. Lo que sí debo afirmar es que está muy desgastada debido a la falta de inversión y la estatalización (las empresas públicas son un lastre; ya sabes, aumentan excesivamente el gasto público y los rescates salen del dinero de los contribuyentes).

Antes de llegar a El Camino a la Felicidad, te encuentras con las costas de la playa de la petroquímica. También había unas casas erosionadas por el salitre de la playa, pero no tomé fotos porque íbamos en el automóvil y era algo difícil.

Llegamos a El Camino a La Felicidad y quedé maravillado. Este es uno de los lugares más famosos de Venezuela debido a la formación de árboles de palmeras a lo largo de toda la costa. La vista aérea aquí es increíble, pero la vista desde la perspectiva al recorrer la carretera es extraordinaria. Algo que solo se puede apreciar cuando pasas por allí. Es precioso.

Este lugar se llama de esta manera debido a la felicidad que causa antes de llegar a Tucacas y al Parque Nacional Morrocoy. Además, es un paseo vehicular en el que el eje vial está bordeado por ambos lados por miles de palmeras (la cantidad de palmeras no está contabilizada exactamente, pero se estima que son cientos de ellas).

En este lugar se puede estacionar el carro en las orillas de la carretera o, incluso, hay espacios en el camino donde uno puede parquearlo para hacer una breve pausa y apreciar la belleza del espacio.

Desde El Camino a la Felicidad se puede ver la costa del Mar Caribe. Las palmeras sirven como una barrera natural que detiene y frena el viento que circula a través del movimiento de las olas del mar. Es un espectáculo sentir cómo circula el viento en ese lugar.

La materia vegetal allí es abundante; todo es de color verde. Algo que debo destacar es que el borde de la carretera con acceso a la costa posee una mayor cantidad de palmeras. Eso hace todo más increíble. El lado opuesto tiene una menor cantidad, pero se aprecia que han ido creciendo y expandiéndose poco a poco.

Finalmente, aproveché y me tomé una fotografía en la motocicleta. Es mi amiga fiel en estos momentos y con la que estoy viajando a todos los lugares que he mostrado hasta ahora en mi blog. El Camino a la Felicidad es un preámbulo de la belleza de Tucacas y del Parque Nacional Morrocoy. Es un sitio especial donde sientes la esencia y la hermosura de Venezuela.
