Restaurant Review: Motell Restaurant and Kaffe

While on our drive from Pulpit Rock to Sekse we came across this Motell Resturant and Kaffe. We were not sure when we would see another restaurant so we went in. It was great!

Location

It was a perfect location for us! We were getting hungry after having just hiked Pulpit Rock and we were driving the back roads to our next Airbnb. The official name of the place, according to google maps is Utsikten Motell and Resturant Hjelmeland and it is just outside of Hjelmelandsvagen. It was a beautiful red beacon for four hungry travelers.

The views were great! It was located right along the water. Below is the cute outside sitting area and the view from inside.

Atmosphere

I really enjoyed the atmosphere! It had a great cozy taken care of feeling.

We had our own room which was really nicely decorated.

The light coming into the room was great so I did a couple portraits of @jarvie and Kimberly.

Price

To be honest I had to look on the picture to see that I paid 235 NOK or 24 USD for the hamburger. That is the price to pay for wanting restaurant food out in the country. Most of the time we bought our food at the grocery store and ate out of the car. I loved doing that and I also had a great time at this fun restaurant above the Josenfjorden.

Staff

The staff was nice. They took our orders brought our food and said good bye.

Taste

It was good. $24 good??? With the great light in the room I had a great time taking pictures of it.

To answer your question. It is not an egg. It is a dipping sauce for the potatoes with oil on it.

Overall

Overall, I have really good memories finding this place right when we wanted a place to eat It had great views a fun room with exceptional light and a very pricey burger.

Here are pictures on the way to the restaurant. It was worth paying the high price to get to drive through the gorgeous Norwegian countryside and eat at a quaint restaurant.
