Share Our World: Highlights of trip to DC

If you have been following me for awhile you know that one of my favorite cities is Washington DC. I went there last month and these are the highlights.

I enjoy getting pictures with the Washington Monument and Capital. The Mall, or big green grassy area with museums and monuments is a place I enjoy walking around. You get to see tourists and people from all over the world, great architecture and wander in any of the buildings at no cost.

National Gallery of Art

The place I feel most at home in DC.

National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden

This garden is filled with great sculptures and in the summer a fountain and in the winter an ice skating rink!

National Gallery East Building

This is the modern section of the National Gallery and was designed by IM Pei and has a great Henry Moore piece made for the opening at the entrance.

Museum of the Bible

Suggested by a co-worker I visited the Museum of the Bible. It is not right on the mall and does cost. It was cool seeing the illuminated manuscripts, especially cause I was in the midst of my Medieval Art History Class.

United States Botanic Garden

This wonderful plant oasis is also located on the mall, close to the capital building.

Views on the mall

Friends

Eating, laughing, talking. So great to see my friends in DC.

National Cathedral

The National Cathedral is in DC and is stunning. I got to go and wander around the cathedral grounds with Heather and her girls.

What a great trip to one of my favorite places!
