Hello my beautiful people of hive, as part of the celebration of LGTBQI+ Pride Month which also celebrates the struggles for equality that the black community and other minorities have been forging for decades all over the world, I wanted to present my review of this movie which I had already heard about a few years ago.
I like movies that vindicate black people in some way and this is one of those that I loved. Ron Stallworth was an icon of his generation because he fought against the racist system from one of its main bastions: the police. Brave as anyone in a time where blacks were treated like apes was too powerful and it's a message that still holds true in the times we are living in.
But despite his feat, he kept it a secret over the years, where he kept for himself the file that validated his victory against racism and hatred. Until in 2014 he published his memoirs in a book that later the great Spike Lee would take to the big screen in 2018, a work for which he would win an Oscar and the Grand Prix of the Cannes Film Festival.
But first of all we must know that the Ku Klux Klan is a criminal organization that professes white supremacy and hatred towards racial minorities in the United States. It began as a small group of individuals who terrorized the black population of the southern United States but gradually grew and gained more followers in most states of the union. Its great resurgence came thanks to the movie "Born of a Nation", an ultra-racist film of 1915 that was seen even in the White House by the then President Woodrow Wilson, one of the pioneers of racial segregation.
But I won't tell you more, let's discover more about this wonderful story, which came to remind us that hatred is still more present than ever, as well as racism and xenophobia.

Hola mi gente hermosa de hive, en el marco de la celebración del Mes del Orgullo LGTBQI+ que también celebra las luchas por la igualdad que desde hace décadas viene fraguando la comunidad negra y otras minorías en todas partes del mundo, quería presentar mi reseña de esta película de la cual ya había escuchado hace algunos años.
Me gustan las películas que reivindican de alguna manera a los negros y esta es una de esas que me han encantado. Ron Stallworth fue un icono de su generación porque lucho contra el sistema racista desde uno de sus bastiones principales: la policía. Valiente como nadie en un tiempo donde los negros eran tratados como simios fue demasiado poderoso y es un mensaje todavía vigente en los tiempos que estamos viviendo.
Pero a pesar de su hazaña, lo mantuvo en secreto con el paso de los años, en el que guardo para sí mismo el expediente que validaba su victoria contra el racismo y el odio. Hasta que en 2014 publicó sus memorias en un libro que posteriormente el gran Spike Lee llevaría a la gran pantalla en 2018, trabajo por el cual ganaría un Oscar y el gran Premio del Festival de Cine de Cannes.
Pero antes que nada debemos saber que el Ku Klux Klan es una organización criminal que profesa la supremacía blanca y el odio hacia las minorías raciales de Estados Unidos. Comenzó siendo un pequeño grupo de individuos que aterrorizaba a la población negra del sur de Estados Unidos pero poco a poco fue creciendo y consiguiendo más adeptos en la mayoría de los estados de la unión. Su gran resurgimiento lo vivió gracias a la película “Born of a Nation” película ultraracista de 1915 que fue vista hasta en la casa blanca por el entonces presidente Woodrow Wilson uno de los pioneros de la segregación racial.
Pero no les cuento más vamos a descubrir más sobre esta maravillosa historia, que vino a recordarnos que el odio esta aún más presente que nunca, igual que el racismo y la xenofobia.

BlacKkKlansman is an American film released in 2018 by the film companies Legendary Pictures and Blumhouse Productions produced by the great Spike Lee who along with Kevin Willmott adapted the screenplay of the film based on Ron Stallworth's memoir from the 2015 book Black Klansman: Race, Hate, and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime. The film has a running time of 2 hours and 8 minutes and starred John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, Topher Grace, Jasper Pääkkönen, Corey Hawkins, Paul Walter Hauser and Harry Belafonte among others.
The music was in charge of Terence Blanchard and the photography was in the hands of Chayse Irvin with New York City as the main location.

BlacKkKlansman o El infiltrado del KKKlan en Latinoamerica es una película estadounidense estrenada en 2018 por las compañías cinematográficas Legendary Pictures y Blumhouse Productions producidas por el gran Spike Lee quien junto a Kevin Willmott adaptó el guion de la película basándose en las memorias de Ron Stallworth del libro Black Klansman: Race, Hate, and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime de 2015. La película cuenta con una duración de 2 horas y 8 minutos y estuvo protagonizada por John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, Topher Grace, Jasper Pääkkönen, Corey Hawkins, Paul Walter Hauser y Harry Belafonte entre otros.
La música estuvo a cargo de Terence Blanchard y la Fotografía en manos de Chayse Irvin teniendo como locación principal a la ciudad de Nueva York.

Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is a black man whose goal is to join the Colorado Springs Police Department and become the first black officer in the department. At first Ron is overlooked and confined to the police records office where he faces ridicule and racism from his fellow officers. Tired of being locked up, he becomes interested in undercover agents and asks his boss to be transferred to an investigative unit where he is assigned his first mission: to be undercover at a lecture given by the black activist Kwame Ture (Corey Hawkins). There he will meet Patrice Dumas (Laura Harrier) the president of the black student federation. After a raid, the mission ends successfully and Ron is assigned a new mission to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan.
Lending his voice and having Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) a Jewish officer from Colorado Springs as a mission partner they manage to enter the center of an investigation that will include David Duke (Topher Grace), Walter Breachway (Ryan Eggold), Felix Kendrickson (Jasper Pääkkönen) and Connie Kendrickson (Ashlie Atkinson) the main leaders of the Klan.

Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) es un hombre negro cuyo objetivo es entrar en el departamento de policía Colorado Springs convirtiéndose en el primer oficial negro de ese departamento. Al principio Ron no es tomado en cuenta y es confinado a la oficina de expedientes policiales donde enfrenta las burlas y el racismo de sus compañeros. Cansado de estar encerrado se interesa por los agentes encubiertos por lo que le pide a su jefe ser transferido a una unidad de investigación donde se le asigna su primera misión: estar encubierto en la conferencia que dicta el activista negro Kwame Ture (Corey Hawkins). Allí conocerá a Patrice Dumas (Laura Harrier) la presidente de la federación de estudiantes negros. Después de una redada la misión culmina con éxito y le es asignada a Ron una nueva misión infiltrarse en el Ku Klux Klan.
Prestando su voz y teniendo a Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) un oficial judío de Colorado Springs como compañero de misión logran ingresar al centro de una investigación que incluirá a David Duke (Topher Grace), Walter Breachway (Ryan Eggold), Felix Kendrickson (Jasper Pääkkönen) y a Connie Kendrickson (Ashlie Atkinson) los principales líderes del Klan.
𝕸𝖞 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎𝖔𝖓
BlacKkKlansman is very much a cop comedy, that's if even in the film's most dramatic scenes, Spike Lee manages to strip the Ku Klux Klan and its many hoodie-clad members of the unreality at the heart of these hate groups. The horrors are real and blacks are called apes while whites abuse them mercilessly. All this seems to be fiction but it is nothing more than the narration of the facts and humiliations that blacks have suffered for decades in the United States.
At the beginning we see the protagonist, very well played by Denzel Washington's son, John David Washington who like his father, is adored by the camera. From his first appearance, cinematographer Chayse Irvin catches his handsome, well-dressed afro that is a star in its own right. A black man has come to the police force and he doesn't plan to be just another one of the bunch in Colorado Springs. "We've never had a black cop here," Ron Stallworth is told by way of welcome. "So you're going to be the Jackie Robinson of the police department." The comparisons are valid Jackie Robinson was the first black player in the American major leagues, no one wanted him there but he opened doors for others despite fan rejection.
Everything works well in the film the actors seem committed to a drama where whites abound and blacks are the ones being made fun of. Topher Grace surprised me in the role of David Duke the president of the klan. Another one who is very good is Adam Driver co-starring in this movie with an incredible role that immerses you in the problems he has with his Jewish origins. Laura Harrier is perfect as our heroine in the story, she gave the story the feminine touch it was missing. Each member of the klan is also incredibly well acted and the film becomes unpleasant at many times thanks to their characterizations.
𝕸𝖎 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎ó𝖓
BlacKkKlansman es en gran medida una comedia policial, es si incluso en las escenas más dramáticas de la película, Spike Lee logra despojar al Ku Klux Klan y a sus numerosos integrantes disfrazados con capuchas de la irrealidad que se respira en el centro de estos grupos de odio. Los horrores son reales y los negros son llamados simios mientras los blancos los abusan sin compasión. Todo esto parece ficción pero no son más que la narración de los hechos y vejaciones que por décadas han padecido los negros en Estados Unidos.
Al comienzo vemos al protagonista, muy bien interpretado por el hijo de Denzel Washington, John David Washington que al igual que su padre, es adorado por la cámara. Desde su primera aparición, el director de fotografía Chayse Irvin atrapa su atractivo, bien vestido y con un afro que es estrella por sí mismo. Un hombre negro ha llegado a la policía y no planea ser uno más del montón en Colorado Springs. "Nunca hemos tenido un policía negro aquí", le dicen como bienvenida a Ron Stallworth. "Así que serás el Jackie Robinson del departamento de policía". Las comparaciones son válidas Jackie Robinson fue el primer jugador negro en las ligas mayores estadounidenses, nadie lo quería allí per le abrió las puertas a otros a pesar del rechazo de los fanáticos.
Todo funciona bien en la película los actores parecen comprometidos con un drama donde abundan los blancos y los negros son los que se burlan. Topher Grace me ha sorprendido en el papel de David Duke el presidente del klan. Otro que está muy bien es Adam Driver Coprotagonizando esta película con un papel increíble que te sumerge en los problemas que tiene el mismo con sus orígenes judíos. Laura Harrier esta perfecta como nuestra heroína en la historia, le puso a la historia el toque femenino que le faltaba. Cada miembro del klan también es increíblemente bien interpretado y el film se torna desagradable muchas veces gracias a sus caracterizaciones.
We see very little of the supremacist organization despite the backstory I expected much more from the story, the klan is an organization with unparalleled hatred. I also missed more stories and black characters the ones that were there seemed to be filler but in everything else this film shines, the costumes are amazing, the cars they used were of the time, everything seemed to be well put together for success.
In the end the film rightly, doesn't end with Stallworth's small victory over the local Ku Klux Klan chapter. Unfortunately, the police chief decides to disband the investigation team and orders the destruction of the files. But the director concludes not there but with a sad, long montage of post-Donald Trump politics, culminating in the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville and its aftermath. The horror refuses to go away only it is no longer so organized, today they no longer wear hoods, they are hate groups willing to destroy the order of society for the sake of defending a supremacy that exists only in their heads.
History is more current than ever and as I always say, I love that new generations are presented with films based on historical facts because it puts us in context. What we now live in result of our past and we are left with only trying to make amends for what is no longer normal and never should have been, the movie is netflix and I would totally recommend it to you it is worth every minute until the end. My rating is 9/10
Vemos muy poco de la organización supremacista a pesar del trasfondo esperaba mucho más de la historia, el klan es una organización con un odio sin igual. También me faltaron más historias y personajes negros los que estaban parecían estar de relleno pero en todo lo demás este film brilla, el vestuario esta increíble, los carros que usaron eran de la época, todo parecía estar bien armado para el éxito.
Al final la película acertadamente, no se termina con la pequeña victoria de Stallworth sobre la sección local del Ku Klux Klan. Lamentablemente, el jefe de policía decide disolver el equipo de investigación y ordena la destrucción de los expedientes. Pero el director no concluye allí sino con un triste y largo montaje de la política post-Donald Trump, que culmina con la manifestación de Unite the Right en Charlottesville y sus consecuencias. El horror se niega a desaparecer solo que ya no es tan organizado, hoy ya no llevan capuchas, son grupos de odio dispuestos a destruir el orden de la sociedad con tal de defender una supremacía que solo existe en sus cabezas.
La historia está allí más vigente que nunca y como siempre digo me encanta que se presenten a las nuevas generaciones películas basadas en hechos históricos porque nos pone en contexto. Lo que ahora vivimos en resultado de nuestro pasado y solo nos queda tratar de enmendar lo que ya no es normal y nunca debió serlo, la película esta netflix y te la recomendaría totalmente vale la pena cada minuto hasta el fin. Mi puntuación es de 9/10.
