Created by Neil Cross, adaptation of his first novel: Burial. It is a four episode Thriller directed by Niall MacCormick

What is the plot?
Nathan is happily married to Holly. He met her seven years ago, when he was about to do something crazy. Nathan was tormented by an event he was involved in on New Year's Eve 2010. Everything seems to be going well, but one night Bob shows up at his house. An old friend and accomplice of the terrible action they both did ten years ago. They are removing the grounds where they left the body of a young woman buried. The past seems ready to destroy Nathan's perfect life. Something he is not willing to allow.
The story is not completely new. The irruption of an old friend with whom he did something terrible and who, if everything is discovered, would destroy the life of the protagonist, is a story that has been repeated on television and in the movies. But the story is interesting, above all because it has a mixture of supernatural suspense.
Bob's character is a man who is dedicated to the paranormal, believes in ghosts and has a history of drug and alcohol consumption. Since the death of his mother he is not well in his head. But he is a well-known person, with radio programs that deal with the supernatural.
It's the last day of 2009, he meets Nathan, who used to work at a radio station, and then they meet at the New Year's party. The same party where they will meet a girl named Elize. That meeting will have an unexpected end, sealing a secret that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
The series explores human behavior when it is pushed to the limit. What are we capable of when we see that everything we have achieved is in danger? Ntahan will be pushed to relive the tragic moment, which he is atoning for, with the definition of marrying Holly. Hiding her entire past and affecting her directly.
Bob represents everything she wants to forget, but they will have to return to the site, to unearth Elize's body, before the construction company's excavations find the remains. With all the DNA, they would be stopped quickly. What Nathan doesn't know is that Bob also has other secret plans, which will endanger his happiness.

The Sister is an adaptation of a novel by the famous writer Neil Cross, creator of the character Luther, also taken to the format of a series by the same author, a few years ago and which was a notable success on television. The novelist has also created for television Hard Sun and Crossbone.
On this occasion, Neol Cross adapts his own novel, Burial, which was published in 2009. The UK-US co-production was managed by Euston Films.
Filmmaker Niall MacCormick directed the entire mini-series. He is a director with a lot of experience in series and is once again taking the reins of a dramatic thriller, with characters pushed to the limit, secrets and a crime that will affect everyone's life. A few months ago I reviewed another production directed by Niall MacCormick, which I recommend seeing: The Victim.
He is an excellent director for this type of production.
British productions always offer a solid cast, in this case, it's true again. All the protagonists are perfect in their role.
Russell Tovey, known for his character in the BBC's Human Being series, plays Nathan. The insecure young man, who feels guilty for Elize's death, and when she was about to take her own life, decides to suppress her guilt, approaching Holly. The actor conveys that fragility, a person who needs to be saved from guilt. Although we will also see his darker side, when he must do things he never thought he would be able to do.
Bertie Carvel plays Bob. Nathan's disturbing friend who returns to alter his life. Bob is really disturbing both in the way he dresses and the way he talks. He is a completely crazy character. The actor has a prestigious career in the theater, he has won Oliver's Lawrence Award twice and the Tony Award. He appeared in the film Les Miserables and has participated in many other series and films.
The actress Amrita Acharia completes the cast, playing Holly. The fragile woman marked by the tragedy of her sister, who ends up marrying the man who keeps a dark secret. The actress played Irri in the first two seasons of Games of Thrones, but her face is not well known by the general public. Although she has been constantly working on various films.
The mini-series consists of four episodes, which can be seen in a full afternoon, as if it were a movie. It is an ideal choice for this weekend, if you like British dramas with a crime and secrets that return from the past to disturb the tranquility of a happy family.
I hope you like it.
